racers and royals 8,717 Posted November 9, 2018 This new contract for coverage of the Extraleague from 2019 to 2021 is reportedly worth 60 million PLN as against 25 million PLN for the period 2016-18. Phil Rising recently wrote a piece in the Star regarding the FIM and BSI are very unhappy at the Extraleague scheduling matches now on Friday`s-including those friday`s which are practice days for the GP the following day It didn`t register at the time of reading it why the Extraleague would want to do this. The FIM/BSI could easily scupper this plan by insisting that all riders must be present at the draw on practice day.( even getting them to pull their own draw number out) In this weeks Star(excellent edition) it becomes clearer when it says that N Sport have lost the exclusive rights and are from next season sharing the Extraleague coverage with Eleven Sports. I have subsequently found out that the intention is all matches are now being televised live- 2 on Friday`s on eleven and 2 on Sunday`s on N Sport- happy days for us Polish TV and internet watchers !!!!! I`m not sure how this is all going to resolve itself- I can`t see that the GP riders will be happy missing practice to ride in an Extraleague match- surely with only 14 round matches to fit in over the regular season there must be dates available that don`t encroach on GP weekends. INCOGNITO 357 Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) ALL top league matches are being shown live and talks of 50 other meetings being on Polsat, Eleven or Canal will also feature. Poland have Friday, Saturday and Sunday as priority and think Eleven Sport are doing Friday and Saturday most weeks with N Sport doing the two Sunday meetings. If you haven't got a foreign satellite dish yet, get one as its much better than anything on our channels and you get to see the BT matches with Polish commentary plus all Swedish meetings GP WEEKENDS - There is likely to be two on the Friday that weekend (if any) but GP riders have been saying for sometime that practice on the morning is more beneficial to them on setting up for the meeting and allows them to arrive a day later than at present Edited November 9, 2018 by INCOGNITO
racers and royals 8,717 Posted November 9, 2018 No way will the FIM/BSI change from Friday practice- the Extraleague will have a bloody nose over this !!!!

Practise not complusory for GP's and maybe practise is over rated as the track changes.

Indeed- but is it fair on the FIM/BSI that a rider could be injured riding Polish league the night before and no time available to get a next in line rider in. Plus i`m sure some riders are more then happy to try out their various engines at practice.Poland has gone to far on this one and they won`t win !!!!!! Bavarian 765 Posted November 10, 2018 Don't think so. Since SGP practise isn't compulsory anymore, the riders will go where the money is, and that is Polish League meetings.
Tim G 512 Posted November 10, 2018 Now Eleven Sports are up and running in the UK maybe they will be showing the Polish Speedway.

It does seem a strange move to have league meetings before a GP. It could work if the GP was in Poland as, in case of injury, another rider could be found easily. But still strange. Has there been an update on this - looks to me as though Eleven will be screening 2 Extraliga matches each Friday, which will mean matches taking place the night before a GP... The update is that the FIM(and BSI by not putting enough pressure on the FIM) have bottled it and for all purposes said to the Polish Extraleague you do want you want . In my opinion it devalues the GP with riders missing practice to ride in a league match 24hours before a GP. I have already said what the FIM should have done in the timescale before the Polish fixtures came out. There are 2 Friday`s scheduled which clash with GP practice 31st May(June 1st Krsko) and 1st August (2nd August Wroclaw)however there are also Extraleague reserved dates (for rain-offs) on Friday 17th May(Warsaw 18th May) Friday June 14th (Prague 15th June) Friday 5th July(Hallstavik 6th July) Friday 16th August(Malilla 17th August) plus play-off reserve rain-off dates the day before Vojens and Cardiff.
PHILIPRISING 7,298 Posted December 29, 2018 IT'S not missing practice that is an issue. What happens when a rider actually misses a GP because he was injured the night before. And who replaces him or indeed them?

And who replaces him or indeed them? Exactly- then why have the FIM not had the b*lls to do anything about it- there are so many other Friday nights that Poland could use(although not in the same week as the Sunday matches necessarily) or Saturday`s as well. For fear of repeating myself the FIM should have - as soon as it became apparent what the Extraleague were going to do was to change the rule so that riders themselves were to draw their riding number out of the hat 1 hour before practice starts. PHILIPRISING 7,298 Posted December 29, 2018 HAVE suggested in SS next week that the FIM simply ban SGP riders from racing competitively 24 hours prior to a round of what is after all the World Championship.

Great suggestion, but why does it need to be suggested from an outside source in the first place? The FIM need to look after their product and also the fans/tv and should be pro active themselves
