There is nothing wrong with the new conversion rate or its longer term intention which is to create a recognisable gap between the 2 league standards It will also make doubling down less attractive Where (as often) it falls down is that the inplementation creates as many questions as answers and therfore anomalies as per this situation At the moment the difference in standard does not warrant a rate of 1.5 Boro have worked out this team superbly to take advantage - its not their fault the figures are currently skewed! There are other issues too which havent been addressed such as riders having lower 2nd tier averages than top tier - this is far more of a challenge to the set up and longer term aim It would be relatively straight forward to combine results from both leagues for riders doubling up, use the agreed conversion to weight the relevant part, and provide a single average to be used in both leagues

If there is to be a first division and a second division they can be regulated by team building points limits, not by arbitrary conversion rates which do not reflect the different levels of skills of the riders. I can't see the problem with doubling down (or doubling up) now that we have different race nights for the two leagues. In fact it should be encouraged for British riders, to make speedway more cost effective both for the riders, who need two pay packets, and for the promoters who can save on the air fares and running costs of foreign riders. Compare the Redcar and the Peterborough teams: Redcar have Wright and Barker as heatleaders and they should be second strings/third heatleaders in the PL; Redcar have Stewart and Bacon as second strings and they should be reserves in the PL. That's progression, not giving Barker and Bjerre PL reserve berths.

It's over a decade at least but management have cracked it this time
DC2 11,150 Posted December 20, 2018 Just looked at the 39 riders who achieved averages in both the PL and the CL in 2018 and the average "conversion rate" was: 1.32 On the face of the conversion comparable alone (and allowing nothing for anticipated increase or reduction in average): Chris Harris (0.99), Proctor (1.04), Klindt (1.05) and Schlein (1.08) would be the best value signings in the CL, but the worst in the PL; Auty (1.77), Jake Allen (1.62), Summers (1.57) and Ashley Morris (1.52) would be the best value in the PL, but the worst in the CL. So advantage Somerset in the CL and hope for Ipswich in the PL if they sign Auty, Allen and Summers!

I think its the best team planning I have ever seen at Peterborough , there doesn't appear to be any weak links IMO . So well done Ged & co excellent team planning.

Steve Shovlar 10,424 Posted December 21, 2018 Looking at this team it’s a bit Dads Army ala Rye House last year. Fine at home but maybe not away. Not sure but that perhaps goes for most teams.
