Championship and Poland

Recommended Posts

With plenty of  the Championship teams rider  targets likely to contracted to riding in Polish teams on Saturday/ Sunday, is it not time for the BSPA/SCB to come up with a firm rule covering facilities for missing riders who are riding elsewhere. My view is any rider who wants to do Poland can only ride Premiership(no clash on Mondays/Thursday`s) - ie NO facility for a rider riding Polish league.

Here is a list of riders contracted to Polish teams-only included those i would think might ride in Championship.Poland do use a squad system so some listed below are not guaranteed meetings over there.

Ellis

Lidsey

Erik Riss

Bewley

Etheridge

Schlein

Tungate

Jorgensen

Wilson-Dean

Becker

Grajczonek

Morris

Palm-Toft

Summers

Vissing

Klindt

Masters

Jensen

Lyager

Aarnio

Kus

Stewart

Stichauer

Albin

Todd Kurtz

Keynan Rew

Lawson

Wright

Bellego

Bach

Berge

Wells

Manzares

The important thing is what days (potentially) do their Polish clubs ride?

It’s 80% Sundays 10% Fridays and 10% Saturdays

Sorry, but that doesn't really help.  Newcastle and from next season, Sheffield are Sunday tracks, so which of the above riders does that rule out those two sides signing?

Potenially all of them- Nice Polska league(2nd Polish league) and 2nd div(3rd Polish tier) all ride on Sundays apart from some teams like Rawicz ride at home on Saturday’s - there are TV matches on Fridays and Saturday’s for teams who normally ride on Sunday’s.

well its not just that - it means teams turning up without some of those names - more guests/farcical fixtures

Its time to tell these 2nd raters where to go,if they are going to miss UK fixtures for the odd meeting Poland let them sit in the house waiting for the Polish telephone call.

Hence the OP - what should the BSPA do ?? These riders however are hardly 2nd raters as far as the Championship goes. It’s going to be really difficult to fill 12 teams with riders not included in the list !!

contracted meetings for the full season, with DU a possibility or the chance of the odd match in Poland. If they were forced to make the choice I know which they would choose.

Good luck to any rider who wants to ride in Poland, but its time for our BSPA to stand firm and rule that no facility will be given when the inevitable fixture clash comes along. For most riders Poland will always be first choice but there`s a number of riders who find out the hard way that its not always sweetness and light.

The Sheffield promotion stated on Thursday that will not sign any rider who has a contract to ride in Poland, so none of them will be riding for us

Would be good if the only facility for a rider missing a meeting in England was a NL guest as well
