Birmingham

Somerset likely to make wholesale changes at some point so their position based on starting line up, but likely to finish several places higher.

Don't really understand when people say that about making changes. Why not just start with the best team available in the first place if they are prepared to make changes? I don't think Somerset are. When Berge was dumped we should of been making two changes and made sure Wilson-Dean or similar was coming in. No point waiting until you've lost your first few home matches. There is also not enough fixtures now for averages to vary and bring in someone far stronger for a weaker rider and to also gain ground lost early on in the season.

Plus the riders you would be looking to bring in may have already gone to others in their reshuffles.

I quite agree. I'd imagine the teams that don't start well will be looking to Wilson-Dean, Worrall (although unlikely to fit anywhere) and MacDonald to make big improvements so some clubs will end up missing the boat.

FWIW I think Bagpuss' predictions are pretty close to how it will finish albeit with Glasgow lower down.

Quite agree mate, I wouldn’t start with two raw reserves but there seems to be an appetite to have three big hitting heat leaders and the subsequent departure of Berge who would have scored bucketloads at home has made the tail very long. Somerset are a club who won’t settle for not challenging so I think changes will happen once averages alter and a stronger reserve will come in somehow.

Of course would much prefer the two youngsters to thrive and not need replacing.

with BW-D very hard to fit him in at many places as most have 2 point reserves, so Somerset would have to ditch one of top 4 as an example. Many Teams close to 38 point limit too. If a rider with higher average than BW-D gets injured early he is a shoe-in candidate you'd think. I still think he will go to one of 3 most southerly Clubs  - Birmingham  (for Castagna or the Danish lad); Somerset or Eastbourne (for Morley maybe?)

I'd of had Kurtz and Berge out for Wilson-Dean and any other. Much more entertainment value and the strongest top 4 in the league. I can't see the German troubling the scorers too often and Kurtz is alright if he makes the start.

Kurtz has come from the back loads of times at Sheffield, not giving him credit there

Newcastle will be very difficult to beat at Redcar , 3 track specialists .

This is my view of positions

Sheffield - VERY STRONG THROUGHOUT

Newcastle - A SURPRISE PACKET

Somerset - HEAT LEADERS & AFTER A FEW MEETINGS BWD

Redcar - IF THE LOWER ORDER KICK IN

Eastbourne - HOME ADVANTAGE IS HUGE

Leicester - LOOK SOLID

Glasgow - NOT AS STRONG AS PREVIOUS YEARS

Berwick A LOT DEPENDS ON JAKOBSON & ETHERIDGE

Scunthorpe- COULD PROVE PEOPLE WRONG

Edinburgh - LACK OF TOP END POWER

Birmingham - LACK OF HEATLEADERS

Not sure how Somerset will bring BWD in after a few meetings, Covatti will up his average and the two pointers wil, still be a minimum two even if there averaging 1.5,  points limit is still 38 I believe?
