Pity Worky closed after that magnificent treble. Used to love the speedway, especially the Fours, when I lived up there 2004/5, Stoney, Steady, Wrighty, etc., Mystic Mel, Gromet the Comet, some real characters at DP. But with hundreds losing interest since then couldn't afford to keep running.

At last common sense prevails Shaz :rolleyes:Ā , not going to help us Workington Comets fans though . Why couldn't they have just revamped Borough Park and Derwent Park for all 3 sports . I know affordability is the main factor for losing the Comets , but ripping up the track gave no chance of a possible return .I'm really pleased with the result its been rejected as will a lot of others I know :approve:

not good news on the stadium being rejected.....

Ā

Ā

its brilliant news .Ā

people in so called high places trying to make their markĀ on cumbria.

i wonder who pays the bill for all the track being dug up .

or is it just another money making scam to get more cash out of the systemĀ

Europe aint gonna be happy , paying for something that wont get built !

that news will keep this thread ticking over nicely until xmasĀ  .LOL.

Just seen the news about stadium plans being rejected (on hols in a far flung Greek island ) artical saying smaller capacity stadium to be discussed, think around about 500 capacity should be more than enough for town and reds,

Has any grass started to grow on swamp/desert in middle of Derwent park ? 1st town game on ' new ' pitch is susposed to be in 2 weeks time !! Just asking like

Well make sure that they lay the shale smooth side down, like 'gripper-rods',,, cos if you put them upside down, the hoover sucks ya carpet up.

Hopefully the air fence fits it's new home, as you don't want too many, or not enough piecesĀ :t:
