It was on the last meeting of 2018!!

it was like that a few years ago when we were there and the Denholms on the tractors made it worse. Richie Worral rode for us and couldn't get used to it. The track was shiny and more suited to an ice bike.

Some really good riding and passes, and Sheffield put up a good show, especially Danny K and Broc Nicol.

Nicol was impressive. These American's aren't phased by the tight turns of Brough. To a lesser degree Aaron Fox and Max Ruml have looked decent in 'recent' ish season's and it looks like Becker has the hang of Wolverhampton already. At 4.00 assessed it makes you wonder why the Diamonds never look in that direction.

I think we have never had a contact in the USA, and that's how you get recommendations of up and coming riders. I think being 'foreign' brings different problems, than from our usual source from the EU, especially our contacts and liking of Danish riders. They usually have good temperaments(NIcki ?)  and are very `English' in their own way. BTW every Dane is taught English especially for Universities and that is a big help to them in UK speedway. They then have to learn Geordie, but usually only takes a couple years. We have a Danish flag in our bay window at home, and have for some 17 years, something which Jesper notes when him and Carol come visiting.

NB WE did have one American many years ago Eddie Ingalls, and he was married at Brough Park.

Yeah they all do on there Todd  when they have the whole track to themselves but it's a different case when there are 3 others in with them.. but he did look fast & controlled tho

How could I have forgotten Brent. A Brown Ale specialist, we acquired him from the defunct Long Eaton to give us the potent heat leaders of Jesper Olsen , a guy called Nicki, and Brent in 1998. Colourful character who always had a smile on his face.

As others have said he looked quite good. He attacked the track, gated well but liked to go a bit near the kerb on the first bend, but changed it in his second ride. A good trier for someone to give him a chance.

Jedd was brought over on the recommendations of Allen & Douglas who had seen him race & even he said he was a gater. We saw in the 3 meetings that he did have the speed & was smooth but his gating was letting him down as he seemed to be over spinning, bogging down at the start rather than surging forward. As has been said, he has only been on a 500cc bike for less than a year & maybe a year too soon. Rob made the change sooner than he would normally do & though it might be morally wrong by some posters on here, Jedd's father understood the reasons why & his replacement, Danny Ayres scored 5+2, before anyone else could snap him up. I bet other teams will be making changes in the next few weeks as it is part of the nature of our sport.

It's easy for folks on here to criticise Rob for his decision, but if he didn't the same folks would be on his back if the team were losing due to carrying a rider after last year.

He has to do what's right for his business, whilst keeping the majority of his fans on side. Given what some on here have hinted at, I wouldn't be surprised if Rob  looks after him giving him track time or trying to get Jedd a ride somewhere else.

Considering Danny Ayres scored 5+2 it was the right decision at this stage in List’s career.Imo

But when we do it the whole speedway world goes into an uproar... Even making the news in Poland that Newcastle dropped a rider because another rider had to retire... It's a numbers game in this country...
