Newcastle Vs Edinburgh SGB Champ Shield Easter Sunday 21 April

Recommended Posts

Well as everybody must be out enjoying this glorious weather before the speedway tonight there seems to be no one to start this off so here goes......

Can the diamonds make amends for Fridays fizzle out??

Line ups as were Friday are....

 Newcastle Diamonds

1. Steve Worrall
2. Simon Lambert
3. Lasse Bjerre
4. Matthew Wethers
5. Thomas Jorgensen
6. Max Clegg
7. Danny Phillips

 Edinburgh Monarchs

1. Ricky Wells
2. Justin Sedgmen
3. Josh Pickering
4. Joel Andersson
5. Cameron Heeps
6. William Lawson
7. Luke Ruddick

I think this will be close and could go either way if the diamonds don't pull their fingers out!!

Should be looking to get a point from this as long as we perform well and no passengers.

Can we put Phillips at 6 and Clegg at 7? It would make more sense surely we are quite vulnerable at home in heat 8 with Lambert and Phillips currently. Also pairing Phillips with Jorgensen would be less risky more often than not Jorgensen can look after himself.

The Team Manager should be smart enough to recognise the vulnerability in ht8 and switch reserves. Im not liking the look of this one!

Quite right. It’s common to swap reserves in heats seven and eight. Clegg (or any other stronger reserve in any other team) should be in heats 8, 12 and 14.

Disappointed to come away with nothing, need better from sedgy and Willie and should be fine if they two get going.

Good win by the Diamonds tonight with a hard fought battle against the Monarchs. Hats off to TJ and another very impressive performance from Clegg, gets better week on week. Gr8 to see Wethers amongst the points and Bjerre's haul would have been greater if not for a retirement and a team riding attempt which didn't quite work. Lambert still a worry but Phillips has to go, he's not good enough for this level, simple as.

So why did you not heed what Scunny were saying last year! A change is inevitable in my opinion.

I thought newcastle got out of jail on this one an ef robbed edinburgh a t/s for wells,tj falling that race could have been rerun, then no interval just a 20 min tracror race so tj could get his second bike sorted , then another 10 min delay after fe fell in ht 13.poor meeting apart from a couple of hts and a very poor ref .

William once again looks down on power, did he invest in new engines for this season????

Nothing against Danny Phillips and I know it’s very early in the season but how much longer can/do you persevere with him? He’s not even scoring at home. You could sign someone like Jordan Jenkins admittedly he’s probably not ready for championship racing and may not score much or at all but at least he’s young and has potential to improve.

Said when team was announced that we needed Justin to be Sedgy of old and William to be riding decent equipment. Luke has done so well and if William could step up to the mark we could have a decent reserve pairing.

or maybe even just keep signing 2 pointers on a temporary basis, until we find a decent one, but one things for sure,,, the conversation about it 'round the dinner table' won't be easy.
