Just found this on the BSF from 9 years ago!

Final was Schwartz, Knudsen, Dryml, Maier. 71.4

Nothing for the years though...

My completed programme has a different time for the final

1982 World Team Cup - Victor Lodorum
Heat 1 : Schwartz, Penhall, K Moran, S Moran  70.4
Heat 2 : Maier, Hack, Gilgenreiner, Muller (NS), Wiesbock (NS)  71.2
Heat 3 : Dryml, Verner, Ondrasik, Stancl (F)  71.6
Heat 4 : Knudsen, Gundersen, Eriksen, Nielsen (NS), Olsen (NS)  71.4
Final :    Schwartz, Knudsen, Dryml, Maier  70.5

The post I referenced stated that the results were taken from Speedway Mail, so I would tend to go with yours.

There were probably quite a few of us forumites there at that final, but it's crazy to think of it being 37 years ago...

Hey Steve 

Corey Cadby is a bit of a regular down Birmingham speedway this season . He has moved to Birmingham now his visa issues are sorted and has been to the opening 3 meetings .

I was there too and yes, it does not feel like 37 years have passed.

I was there to i remember the USA giving Scott Autrey a ride and surprising Preben Eriksen was picked above Knudsen i had forgotten that.

I always felt it a shame that Ronnie Moore wasn't given a ride during the 1972 World Team Cup Final which was, in essence, his last ever World Final appearance.

Spot on Steve it was such a shame to see Scott at that level he was not the 1978/79 version.

If I recall it was Bobby Schwartz who gave up his ride although he was on for a maximum (?). The ultimate team man.

 That side really had a great spirit Schwartz( very underated) was a great  team man an awesome team partner he was great on the white line.

And, of course, that victory by 'The Yanks' was dedicated to the late Denny Pyeatt.

I'm afraid Sid that was one meeting I missed although I have it on DVD and is best remembered for the 'coming together' of Ivan Mauger and John Davis and which Davis was subsequently excluded and missed out on that year's World Final.
