poor meeting inconsistent referee the final race was ruined by Ackroyd . belle vue or Peterborough could run a grand prix no problem

Zmarzlik took the bull by the horns and went for it, some others to a lesser extent. The gaters, Laguta, Madsen, and Dudek, dont seem to want to race. You can see them holding back when they behind and they catch someone else by the end of the straight., Laguta and Madsen more so then Dudek.  Lambert started off ok, but he going to have to learn to change lines as a meeting progresses, like others do. Certainly his bikes are not fast enough, last meet in Warsaw he was line hugging and a queue behind him, last night when behind he just lacked speed to make up much ground. Nice to see Emil not only mixing it but scoring, not back to how he was pre his GP "retirement", but getting better. Hope Prague will bring better racing, but its not a cert.

So the Poles have more clout than the FIM? That's a worry. It puzzles me then why this new qualifying system was brought in when it must have been obvious that some riders would not be able to take part, and therefore be at a disadvantage. I believe in the past practice was optional, but this new system really hasn't been thought out and once again makes our sport look silly.

Poor track really, hog the inside line and you win. Amazing how tracks like this get a GP but Belle Vue doesn't get one.

Belle Vue is  a decent track but can also be "one line" e.g nearest fence and too determined by guy with fastest bike

Simple fact Belle Vue was built with a lack of vision that will stop it being a GP Track.

They needed to have built it with scope to hold 20-25,000 in comfort and it will never be able to do that without further massive investment. It is an economic folly as it is now, new investment never likely.

Cardiff is ideal and other than Birmingham Commonwealth Games venue (which is an existing Athletics venue being upgraded) nothing else in the UK remotely available or affordable.

Lambert had as much speed as anyone else when in front and looked no worse than anyone other than the winner when behind. Not sure why you are singling him out. Changing lines for most last night resulted in losing ground, and don’t forget he was out after every track grade and watering. Two semis out of two is pretty decent going for him, all he lacks really is the experience and a bit of nous at times round the first two bends.

For me parts of the GP series are a bit tired and need freshening up, Krsko and Prague are of little interest due to the racing and there are too many riders knocking around who have been in and out for years but will never win it ie Lindback, Iversen, Kolodziej, Zagar, Sayfutdinov etc and it’s all a bit samey.

Prague and Lonigo  are usually rubbish . I think Lambert is doing ok ,certainly a lot better than some expected .  good to see him in the semis again . and even better for me , good to see Doyle not ..

PRAGUE has improved drastically since the younger Ondrasik took charge. But, to repeat myself yet again, you cannot always blame the actual track for a lack of passing. Lonigo, thankfully, is but a distant memory but had some great times staying by Lake Garda.

Sir Shoutalot at his very loudest last night

His screaming every time there's an exciting race is getting more and more childlike by each meeting

Is there not a decent professional commentator available for UK TV coverage?

BSI along with the FIM have introduced transponders and time trials in an attempt to make practice more attractive and meaningful for the public and riders.

Wow, wonder why that hasn't worked?!

Perhaps speedway riders prefer financial incentives like all other pro sportsmen?

Apart from a couple of races I found this event boring, Tatum and Pearson where obviously under instruction to big it up but their misplaced enthusiasm (often after yet another procession) was frankly embarrassing, that is when you could actually decipher Tatum's slurred words (what is it he crams into his mouth in the latter stages of most meetings?).

The capacity has nothing to do with stopping it holding a GP.  Slovenia, Germany, Prague, Swedish tracks etc can’t hold 20-25000, most are around 10,000 same as Belle Vue. It’s never going to replace Cardiff.

its all about money, they worried about reducing the attendance at Cardiff and also the huge money Manchester City council would have to pay which the like of Krsko, Teterow  etc seem to be willing.

A plan currently exists by the management to get Peterborough back as an FIM track
