Kent touch Tec Kings vs Wightlink Warriors

Recommended Posts

So effectively  a one off shoot out on Monday evening with either side winning the crown. Ironically last time IOW won a trophy Chris Hunt and Kevin Sheppard were joint managers but this time they will be involved for opposite sides.

The warriors actually need to win by 7 points or more which makes thier task that bit tougher. With Morley and Wood both Central park experts at the spearhead they could both go unbeaten. Dsnno Verge has come on massively over the winter and is a true heat leader now. Lots will depend on how Ryan Terry daily and Chris widman go, both have had excellent races and both had nightmares. Connor King secured his first ever national league race win for IOW at central park last season but if memory serves also had at least spectacular off afterward, and young Chad seems to score well at most tracks especially if he gates.

Kent continue to operate RR for injury victim Alex Spooner and with Jordan Jenkins on exam duty Richard Andrews comes in as a most popular guest, and his 5 rides (inc rr ride) will be most critical to the Kings fortunes. Drew Kemp is a  out and out no1 and you can tell every dropped point really annoys him, not always out of the gate first and with the track being slick in recent weeks that has made passing that bit harder. Andrews as mentioned is a popular guest and his swashbuckling style especially around central park meant he was on many fans winter wish lists. As long as he and skipper Rob Ledwith stay upright the Kent engine room should be enough to see the kings home. Rob by his own admission started the season on gas mark 9 and spent a fair bit of time picking himself out the fence, especially at Plymouth. But he has now wound that in to gas mark 7 and is now with the rr ride consistently getting paid double figures and his influence will be key. Rocket Rowe is making Kent a bit of fortress whilst slipping somewhat under the radar. He has added outside passing, and more first bend aggression to his arsenal. And is consistently posting ever faster race times. Jacob Clouting has stepped in the last few weeks and has really delivered the goods, had a confidence boosting heat 2 win last week and looks to have a decent future in the sport, with a very attractive style. And nitro Natham Ablitt has bitten the dust so many times this year but jumps up and scores points in the ReRun each time, a young man with a massive future.

Action gets underway with parade at 6.15pm and tapes up 6.30pm.

What ever the result the trophy will be presented Monday night, so hopefully a bumper crowd will be in attendance.

For what it is worth i predict a topsy turvy evening with Kent winning on the night by a narrow margin.

I see this as a real banana skin for the Kings. The IOW top two could easily go through the card, so would not need too much back-up to

spring a surprise. I heard a rumour tht BBC Television cameras will be there...does anyone know anything about it ? Probably a pipe dream.

If Kent were at full strength it would be a near certainty. But with the missing riders and IOW strong top three there are a few doubts.

Can see a close meeting (maybe a draw) and Kent lifting their first ever team Trophy after six years of trying. :D

Looking forward to some close Speedway and incident free night.

That’s a miles better preview than your own club manages ;)

Very pleasing to see that even though the trophy finals have been done away with this has come down to a one leg shoot out between the Kent galacticos and the peoples champions Warriors. Whilst the strong performers have all been discussed it will come down to the lesser lights to settle this one plus who can keep the most relaxed and enjoy the experience as there are young riders throughout and the pressure levels will be high. Had just a win be needed on the night it could be a real cracker but needing a margin of 7 makes the Islanders chances that bit harder. Keeping my fingers crossed for all square after 12 heats, 5-1 to Warriors in 13, 3-3 heat 14 and then curfew (joking) then see what happens in 15.......

The thought of the Kent Touch Tec Kings "playing for time" to try and get the curfew enacted doesn't bear thinking about it. Their crowd would be very, very angry if they did such a thing.

I think Central Park would be torn down by the crowds bare hands if that happened. Was purely in jest i 100% hope that it will be a cracker and really wish i could make tonight.  Think it could be a track that Wirtzfeld goes well on, think King is a gating tart so will see which one turns up. Much more will depend if Widman turns up or not because currently IOW look stronger without him.

Is there a doubt about Widman riding tonight then?

,Well Kent were strolling this to half way,,IOW had not won a a race ,,with Wood and Morley both having bike,,engine problems ,,things improved for them as the night went on both these guys winning races as they usually do after sorting out the problems  Ben Morley in particular started flying inflicting 2 defeats on the previously unbeaten Kemp ,in heats 13 and 15....The IOW middle order and reserves tried hard with the exception of Widman who poodled round miles behind all night, does not appear to be even trying,,,.But Kent ran out easy and well deserved winners in the end with all their team putting in a decent shift ,,and the celebrations at the end were great for their riders and the fans.....

Fair play to Kent best team on paper and best team on the night. 6 of IOW gave their best and its credit to them that they were in with a chance of winning although actually ended up finishing 3rd in the table. The Kent Kings have won a 4 team tournament however now the the trophy hoodoo is off their back maybe they will push on and win some bigger titles.
