bellevueace 912 Posted June 13, 2019 Can see this being very poorly attended considering the weather in the run up to the meeting.
Phil The Ace 2,853 Posted June 13, 2019 (edited) No more rain now. Track is wet but should be ok. Crowd wise I dread to think. Only just stopped raining after about 4 days of rain. Edited June 13, 2019 by Phil The Ace

Hans's average is only 7.05, and as of this morning Wolves were the only team not riding. The other matches have now been called off, but you've still got to find someone under 7.05 who could divert to Manchester Danny King, Josh Grajczonek, Nick Morris, Kyle Howarth? Would any of those be better than MPT? or who else? Shame the meeting isn't at Peterborough as Hans average +5% would have made Cookie an eligible guest (if Peterborough would have tried to get him?).

Too right Phil. 20 odd mins to the start and I don't think I've ever seen so few here. Neil had just announced that if anyone has friends staying at home, then phone them & ask them to get down here!!
DBP 64 Posted June 13, 2019 Might be closer than some people think the track might be a leveller in the early heats, depends who has got their gating boots on.
acef 795 Posted June 13, 2019 Quite possibly the worst crowd I have ever seen at a speedway meeting
scoobydoo 2,253 Posted June 13, 2019 Which goes to show that its not always the case of the most so called entertaining track in the country that attracts people though the turnstiles

Speedways re admission policy is a big reason why fans don't gamble anymore.
acef 795 Posted June 13, 2019 Given the weather we have had, the racing is actually half decent. The track underneath the wet top surface is very solid and has dried quick. I do wander if it would help sometimes to just blade this track. We know it takes the rain, underneath is absolutely mint
DBP 64 Posted June 13, 2019 It also doesn't help racing on a Thursday, aces need a Friday or Saturday night the Son proved that great crowd and great meeting.
Phil The Ace 2,853 Posted June 13, 2019 Crowds better than I thought. About 700 I'd say

It also doesn't help when they do zero promotion of any event... It doesn't matter what day you run if you don't advertise yourself.. The SoN did a great job locally in getting the message out there and got rewarded with a full house.. As you quite rightly say, the Aces need Friday and Saturday... If you think about 700 is better than you expected then it speaks volumes as to where the sport currently is..
