And a guarantee of not doing well away a short season ending in August with loss of revenue from further meetings

Or stopping the losses getting worse. :approve:

Some folks have a short memory. I remember well when Josh rode for Sheffield and when riding against Scunny he beat the hell out of us. I remember conversations with Josh. me pleading with him to come back.  Imagine all the points Josh has scored for us especially on the EWR track, the lad is capable of beating the best. Always been my favourite rider. Without Josh our team would have lost far more home  meetings. He is exciting to watch. and he doesn't deserve  the agro he's getting! I'm still Josh's No1 fan! Good luck tonight Josh and the rest of the team.

Whichever way you look at it, the fact that Josh is our top Av rider is why he's No1.  Perhaps Josh is happier as a heat leader and could do without the pressure  or perhaps we should get a higher av rider so Josh can be heat leader. Jake who I thought would score well at Somerset, but didn't!

Josh has done it before & it was only last year BUT he wasn't our no1 until the end of the season, mainly riding at no5 which is his best position. I did not think that Josh would replicate his form of last year to this & I fully expected Jake to have kicked on to be our no 1. We will have to wait for another month to see how the averages progress, but for now, Josh is our no1 & we should back him.

He hasn't been very good at Owlerton for a long time... he's basically now a 2nd heat leader at Scunny and a second string at best everywhere else.

Before thinking about away meetings, winning home matches is an absolute must for every speedway team in this country. 99% of fans don’t travel away to support their team so watching them win at home is all that matters to most. Winning away is an added bonus.

For years teams have signed riders who are great at their home track but rubbish at most other tracks for that same reason. Josh Auty is one example of that nowadays. I can think of Simon Walker and Stephan Katt for Somerset in years gone by. Absolute world beaters at the OTA and knew every inch of the track but pretty useless away from home. Didn’t stop them becoming fan favourites though, purely because of their home exploits.

I believe the next set of averages will see Jake Allen take the number 1 spot off Josh... Might just take the pressure off him a little

mmmmm, not too sure about that as since 23rd June(the cut off point) Jake has scored 25 from 14(less than an 8 average & Josh has scored 26 from 13(which is an 8 average) but it depends on the scores being dropped. 0.48 is a lot to make up to overtake Josh.

If that happens and Barker stays I'd use Auty at 5 at home and Barker at 5 away
