Brummies v Bears

Recommended Posts

Hume caught Ellis entering turn 4 of first lap in heat 13. Ellis suspected broken collarbone. Off to hospital.

It's mathematically over as contest for certain now, in truth Redcar have been comfortable all night. Racing not as good as the Glasgow meeting. Turns 1&2 very dusty.

Castagna should be made to go off gate 4 every heat, it encourages him to move from his preferred inside line and he goes much quicker.

Ellis. Didn't look comfortable all night, bike going up rather than forward from the gate, he seemed to be holding on for dear life rather than.in control.

Agertoft. Slow.

Castagna. Frustrating!!! When he is forced to use the outside line he goes quick if not he is slow around the inside.

Ayres. Good win in heat 3, probably the best race of the night. Idiotic exclusion. Did well to not ride over Hume (I think) who fell in front of him in heat 14. Once the outside run was dusty, he went backwards.

Hume. Awful. Caused two accidents.

Shanes. Only Brummie to come out of the meeting in credit, despite probably throwing away the only chance they had of winning the meeting.  Heat 10 on a 5-1 with Ellis, goes too wide allowing both Bears through, then falls. MPT can consider himself lucky the heat was awarded, looked quicker than Ellis. Heat 11 meekly concedes a 5-1. Redeems himself later, albeit to late. Also cost Brummies a potential heat 8 5-1, getting in Agertofts way exiting turn 2.

Was told last night that Terry who was doing the track at Perry barr is no longer doing it down to health.  Don't know if that's true or not?

Not sure any rider could be criticised from last nights meeting....they ALL tried their best, on an absolutely 'woeful' surface !

What has happened to the track ??? How can it go so bad since the Glasgow meeting 2 weeks ago???

Shame about Ellis injury....starting to question Danyon's lack of control (2 avoidable falls imo)???

Quite right about Paco discovering an outside line (as Col mentioned)

We'd of won that match last night had the track been up to it's race-able best.....no doubts!

Good win for Redcar at Birmingham but Eric Riss  will be missing  for return tomorrow night at Redcar as he's riding for Germany in the Speedway Cup of Nations.  We therefore have Eastbournes Lewis Kerr guesting in his place and Redcar fans will be hoping our Superman Charles Wright will be OK to ride again after his Monday night shoulder injury at Peterborough.  Redcar track is normally top drawer so should be a good night's racing at a top track.

Terry has left the post at Birmingham due to needing to reduce his workload as he's busy at Wolverhampton and Redcar so found it too much trying to fit Birmingham in as well.

He isn't in the greatest of health but is still one of the best Trackman in the country which is why the SCB keep calling on his services to sort out ' troublesome ' track surfaces.
