Redcar v Birmingham

You would have been even more impressed with Jitendra's extra article in the week before's programme he put out a two page spread detailing the whole reasoning behind the triple change the Bears made and explaining exactly how the promotion (himself and Jade) went about it. A really top class and informative article which countered all the rumours and criticism posted on here about timing of Ulrich's departure, his expenditure on flights and Jack Smith being harshly treated.

Fans at Redcar feel we are very lucky to have two guys who understand the necessity to engage with the public, give explanations (where possible) about what is going on behind the scenes and want the crowd each week to feel they have been made welcome and had an entertaining and value for money evening!  I'm sure your comments will have gone down very well with them both. :t:

Doesn't cost a penny to get involved with paying customers and the rewards are substantial. There's someone on the Plymouth v Kent thread asking why their promotion should need to explain their actions to fans.

Pretty much sums up the situation down there, although to be fair they are by no means the only ones.

All credit to Redcar for having a completely different approach :approve:

It's always heartwarming to see the young ' uns dancing with Smoggy to the strains of The Music Man. They look like they are having such a great time.

The MPA, and the current promotion team, the team itself,  the atmosphere,

and the whole experience of going to see the Bears ride is light years away from the  visiting experience not so very long ago.

Yes, I'm a Bears fan, but the efforts everyone is putting in at the MPA, deserves some long overdue reward.  UTB !!!

I enjoyed the meeting too - some excellent races and the patched up Brummies team gave a good show (helps having a couple of ex Bears riding as guests). Paco was very entertaining to watch.

Bears look a very solid team now and we have yet to have Riss ride at home. Biggest cheer of the night reserved for Woolley getting his point.

Loved seeing the kids having a great time with Smoggy (who always does an excellent job)

Yes she does. Always a highlight for me!

Others could do more to entertain as well.

Or the fact that Terry has left his post and nobody else knows what to do???

Is Terry the same person who prepares Redcar track?

Definitely, but its more than that - its about engagement with fans. For far too long, fans have been taken for granted and served up crap tracks, crumbling stadiums, revolting food, filthy toilets and surly, aggressive - even abusive - PR. Its a major reason why the sport is struggling.

In Berwick's programme on Saturday night, Jamie Courtney had a pop at those who no longer go but slag the track and team off from their PC's. I can understand his frustration, but does he really think that is likely to get them back ?

Fans expectations will often be too high for reasonable achievement. But if you don't engage, how do you know what your paying customers want ?

Birmingham named their side using R/R for Ellis and Etheridge as a Guest for Ash Morris but as Etheridge's average is higher than Morris' this was not allowed, forcing a quick rethink of the Birmingham team.

From Green Sheets issued 17/7

Morris 5.46         Etheridge 5.65      Ostergaard 5.66

How was this allowed?

They switched from R/R for Ellis to using Ty Proctor as a Guest, Ostergaard came in as a Guest for Aarnio (6.72??) and they switched to R/R to replace Morris.

I THINK lol.

Thought Morris average is/was 6.50 as of 19/7 ?

Still listed as 5.46 in issue 22 issued on 23/07.

Berwick's press releases and their Dirt Extra Site often have a “sly dig” or innuendo at fans comments on Social Media. It does them more harm than good. IMO
