Can you provide proof of that ?  It's not true.

What else, to ensure long term prosperity, did they do with it? Even if it wasn't entirely spent on one rider then a lot of it was. Nothing has been done to change the sport long term. 100k a club in a league of 8? 9? Will we ever see money like that again.

I’ve looked back at the old accounts for Belle Vue. There was no way that we would have paid one rider £100k in a season, even though we had Jason Crump (2008 and part of 2009) and Kasprzak (2009) at the top of their game. In 2009, our Sky income was just over £100k but we still lost about £65k. And that was for a team that finished bottom of the league which always keeps the wage bill down!

Even then -10+ years ago - Britain was the poorest payer amongst the countries with professional leagues. The Sky money kept us afloat, but it certainly didn’t encourage anyone to overpay for quality riders.

Thank you for this information, nice to have it first hand from someone who genuinely knows.

If the Sky money kept certain clubs afloat then I'd love to see the position of those clubs now without the money. As much as we love speedway, it paints a bleak picture if 100k is just keeping it afloat.

the  "position of those clubs now" is that they are up for sale and those that arent would probably consider any reasonable offer

The reason: there are more people in the UK interested in tennis than there interested in speedway.

Yep and that is not even debatable

Not sure how that will work. Eurosport don’t film themselves but take feeds. So who is going to be the broadcaster for Eurosport?

I heard it's going to be re run videos pmsl

If you don't know it's best not to guess. It misguides others who think that what you are saying is true.

Another Monday, three Prem matches and BT Sport are showing nothing, what's the point of them covering the league? its not just the live meeting, its a round up of what has been happening, for the non regular fans/armchair fans, how are they supposed to stay invested?

Let's be honest. .

It's all a bit Mickey Mouse isn't it?

They are very lucky to even have a TV company showing the racing over here, and I would think it's only due to the SGP coverage that they already have that BT bothered to come on board..

Imagine if the sport went out on mainstream TV and someone trying to explain last weeks Peterborough team to the watching millions?

Or last year's Grand Final where two riders who ride for neither team were initially planned to represent both finalists,  swap at 'half time', and change teams..?

And then explaining how riders can swap teams every week of the season, effectively destroying their own season, their own teams' season, and, incredibly, their own fans' season, by scoring points for rivals who are competing for the same competition title..

Sometimes it's for the best that no one seems too bothered..

Speedway, (in the UK) should be grateful it gets any coverage at all..

OR it could be that tracks racing on a Bank Holiday hope for bigger than usual crowds and don't want TV to affect that.

Seriously i wonder if it is because Natalie would have been at the Solihull match. I think. I have recorded that but not watched it yet. I was watching Inter Milan instead. If that was the case there would have been nobody to present it. I am not sure tbh.

Been broached many times on here before. Consensus of opinion among the faithful seems to be that they won't notice so say nothing. But if they do notice and ask questions tell them to shut up and watch the racing.

Works every time - just looking at the sport's growing popularity tells you that.

That would class as funny, if it were not so sad.
