Weather looks ok for qualifying today. what a thriller it should be with all 16 going through their paces !!!

Qualifying is good for 1 thing. It gets covered by BT. That said, I will be watching.

Where's that flag Marshall from Eastbourne when we need him.

Tai went almost an entire lap at top speed with red lights on and red flags out.

Is there a Dugard in the house ?

Just given the practice a watch after not bothering since the first round and quite enjoyed it surprisingly

Ditto, 1st time I've enjoyed it, maybe had something to do with all 16 riders taking part. Interesting that when doing the draw the riders in general chose having the red gate twice option 1st then the blues gates option next.

Given the high rate of success from Red at that track, it was a no brainer for those with a reasonable choice. It is regrettable that speedway still involves such an inbuilt advantage of gate choices. After all these years a more even way of starting seems not to have been well thought out or even considered. Tai's comment that he has won three world titles without such a facility should not be disregarded. More often than not it is possible to pass if you possess the track craft or desire.

What would make gate selection by the rider even more less important would be if the nonsense of follow the leader for the first 3 or 4 races, usually the inside gates first and thats it. Its a good start to a meeting of such high calibre if you can bag 3 points in your first race.  Why not put a few non GP riders out for at least 8 laps riding different lines particularly inside lines, to get a quicker racing line formed. That should even the gates out a bit.

Last year the inside gates, particularly red, had an advantage across the whole night.

BUT the first four races were won off yellow AND so was the Final.

it's not all about the red gate every time.

Yes I heard the stats re Mallila, so my post may not fit Mallila, nor Wroclaw a couple weeks ago where the racing was good from Heat 1..... but generally speaking something should be done. Either analyse whey, for instance, gate 1 at Mallila is so often the winning gate and do something to change it.  Gates should be more even and racing from heat 1., that would be great.

Let's hope racing is top notch.

It's going to be a hard slog with the rest ... Thicko bimbo babbling trackside and Thicko Roscoe babbling in the studio.

Why ?
