Shame the video wasn't on wide angle as Sarjeant & Lawson were going at it hammer & tongs, & they're team mates!

when you watch that video it makes you wonder where the torrential thunder storm described in the match report was!!

or maybe the clown writing it didnt know meeting was being filmed.....

The match report I read stated:-

Heats 3 and 4 were raced in torrential rain causing difficulty for the riders to see with the meeting referee refusing to pause for the thunderstorm to pass over. A track inspection was called for following heat 4 purely to create time for the rain to stop and to allow the fallen water to soak into the surface. A sensible course of action which allowed racing to improve upon resumption.

As the video clip you refer to is heat 8, any chance you can provide similar video evidence for either heat 3 or 4 in order to debunk the claim of torrential rain during these races?

my point being that had the rain been `TORRENTIAL`` as described,it wouldnt have been as dry as it was in in that heat 8 video, which was i guess 15 to 20 mins after the described rain, sure it rained, but not as bad as described

id say well done to the ref on the night for getting on with it,as what i saw,,not a single rider from either team complained,so well done them

There wasn’t any “torrential rain”.  It was mostly light rain during the first four races, although it did get slightly harder for a couple of minutes (around about Heat 3, I think).  It was clearly passing, since the sun was coming out behind the main grandstand, and although times slowed, it was still possible to race, as evidenced by Ben Barker’s fourth to second in Heat 4.

The track inspection called by John Campbell was a curious one.  I guess only he will know the reason why he called it.

Well Beaten At Scunny

REPORT Sunday 4th August 2019, 7:53pm

by Graham Muncie

The Scunthorpe Scorpions were quick to avenge their 16 point defeat at Armadale on Friday night with a 56-34 victory over the Staggs Bar Monarchs on Sunday afternoon.

The meeting had a mixture of everything with a delay to the start due to the paramedic getting the start time mixed up that allowed a thunderstorm to roll in leading to difficult conditions and a lack of track work meaning by the end clouds of dust rising.

So still no one able or willing to provide video evidence of either heats 3 or 4 to let us judge for ourselves whether or not the description of "torrential rain"  was accurate or not?

Contact MKJ Vids and you can order a DVD copy through their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mkjvids/

In the meantime, take it on trust that while it was raining during Heats 3 and 4, by no means was that rain “torrential”.  For starters, I would have dived for cover in the clubhouse, instead of watching the racing from the start-line, and then hiding under the ref’s box to fill my programme in, to stop it getting wet.

The "torrential rain" that came down posted by the Edinburgh media caused a soaking of the track leading to an inspection asked for by the Edinburgh manager & not by the riders. How long did this inspection take? probably less than a minute. Was there any standing water left after the "torrential rainfall"? No. Was there a need for remedial work to the track? No.

Can an Edinburgh supporter come on here that was there on Sunday refute what we are saying & ridicule the media report as being a bit OTT?

You should know by now, it never rains at sunny Armadale. Therefore, even the slightest spit has to be classed as "torrential" ;)

It's called the Precipitation Index Schlein Scale. You'll often hear the acronym used when it's raining ... ;)

The remedial work or as it's known in the sport the Tactical Advantage Knobbling Equipment is often used following the Precipitation Index Schlein Scale in speedway.
