Possibly if we can get track specialists, especially for BV and Ipswich.  We can beat Poole with anyone :D

Cook started it by riding off during presentation!!

Regularly happens at many meetings by many riders and not just Eastbourne and looks thoroughly unprofessional.....

What half way though? I've never seen it. Riders obviously behave themselves at Poole then!

Only because we were without Tobi, and Jason was injured and replaced by Ellis Perks in heat 13. Next time will be different.

And what punishment do the Eastbourne Promotion get?

They should also for the safety issues it caused on the night.

You mean the official just doing his job.

The job of a marshal is NEVER to stand on the track waving a red flag at any time. So no he wasn’t doing his job.

It is if the said rider is not supposed to be on track under power with spectators on the infield.

Irrelevant. The minute a rider gets on his bike no marshal is meant to be on the track.

The flag Marshall was under instruction to stop the out of control Cook, Vissing and other rider from coming around and riding in front of the other riders who were still being introduced to the crowd, along with members of the public who were also trackside.

The Marshall is a hero from stopping potential carnage.

Don’t be silly. The marshal would NEVER be instructed to stop a rider! A marshals job is to wave a red flag from the infield at all times. That’s it.

The Marshal was an out Of control fool.

What is the job of someone at a track with a red flag??

As a marshal I can answer that. You have to sign a health and safety form at the start of the season. Flag marshal responsibilities are to red flag if the red lights come on and not before. You wave flag from designated area on infield, designated for SAFETY for all. Also to ensure anyone (Press/visitor/mascot/sponsor etc) stays behind the designated area usually from the safety of the middle of the centre green.

You aren’t allowed to enter the track when riders on on their bikes on the track, wear visible clothing, you aren’t meant to tamper with any bikes unless it’s to turn off fuel taps (unless you have experience of the bikes) even after a crash.

At no time does it suggest you can stand in the middle of the track flagging when riders are on track. Ever.

That Marshal was dumb to walk in front of a 500cc bike & rider. Eastbourne should be fined by the HSE and ordered to train their Marshals properly. The riders were also dumb and beside being brought to book for being unprofessional, probably breached SCB regulations.

Completely agree. Health and safety issues have to be paramount.

if Craig cook came to Birmingham and rode round ignoring red lights and flag waving marshalls and one of our marshalls stood there as last man putting his own safety before kids are you telling me that would be right??..

The Marshall was all that was between Cook and the public and had seen Cook ignore red lights and his fellow marshalls flags.

The video also shows him showing remarkable restraint after being attacked by Cook, a pity that some others didn't show restraint on both sides.

By all means impose a fine/punishment on Dugard and Juul and Vissing etc. but in my honest opinion confronted with Cook riding towards me with no interest in stopping i would do exactly same things and have marshalled on Grass and other ACU/ACMA events (not speedway).

Cook has previous for foul moth rants and attacking officials, Jason Pipe springs to mind, this is another official (marshall) he has attacked.

Should be banned for rest of season and sacked by Glasgow in my opinion.

The red lights came on as they entered bend 2. Just before the video started. So no red lights were ignored at all. Soon as the red lights came on you can see craig heading towards the open gate to get off track.

It’s not the responsibility of the Marshal to put himself in danger that’s ANY marshal. If I saw that happen at Birmingham and a marshal put himself at danger I’d expect he would be expected to stand down on his duties. No track/no club/ no official expects a marshal to put themselves in danger so it’s irrelevant which track it happened at. Kids and mascots were safe on centre green, and that’s the marshals responsibility to maintain safety.

Its up to the ref and authority to decide actions of any rider(s) ignoring red lights. It’s never up to the marshal to decide what a rider should do whilst on track.

Cook is no innocent, however the Marshal was the cause of this whole debacle. Why 3 riders set of during parade hasn’t been answered , still the action of the Marshal is still to maintain safety.

Have any of the riders been asked why they decided to have their practice starts before the parade was over ?

Stevebrum is exactly right. The paramount rule is that no Marshals , First Aiders or any other personnel are allowed on the track until all the bikes are off. The start and finish of the track marshals authority while bikes are on the track is to hold out the red flag when the referee puts the red lights on.Nothing more. Whatever else happens is not within the marshals authority to deal with.

However, I don’t think the SCB has the authority or power to punish the marshal personally although possibly they could fine promotion.
