Had it been a bit closer then no way Coty would have taken the r/r ride in heat 13. Nothing you can do about Kevin Doolan's chain coming off in heat 14, just one of those things. It left Leon exposed. He was inconsistent all night, well off the pace one minute, brilliant the next. The management wanted to put Leon into heat 15 which, looking back, could have been down to Spud's machinery not being up to it, after his non start in heat 10 (which would also contribute to the 5-1 in heat 13), Kevin being injured after heat 14, Jye already being in it and trying to protect Dany's paid max, so Dany was only brought in at the last minute. It was a very strange end to the meeting. It could be looked on from the outside as taking your foot off the pedal, but there may be more to it than that. Think they should have put Leon in heat 14 instead of Coty anyway another home win and 3 points shame we let the Redcar one slip away. screm 8,049 Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Welcome home win that sees Berwick move up the table though if they are to trouble the play offs they will need at least one away win and probably two which is unlikely. Had Scunthorpe and in particular Jake Allen started as they finished then they would've had something from this meeting, probably an away win. Numpty of the night goes to our centre green presenter who not content with dividing us up from fans or supporters now fancies refereeing, sadly his announcement of Josh Auty`s exclusion at the start of his first ride was premature to say the least. scunny1 434 Posted August 22, 2019 First visit to Berwick and a nice set up. Looking at the track seemed bare ,dry and packed down hard- with the dubious forecast a no brainer really. Being used to the wide open plains of the EWR, the track seemed quite narrow, enormous long straights and a bit bumpy. On to the racing and very much a gate and go meeting. We were dire out of the gate ,but after a few watering sessions of the by now very dusty track, our boys at last found their gating boots. Congrats to the Bandits another few heats and we might have had a better result but still a respectable final score line for us on our travels. Well done to Lambo on a superb laying down to avoid a major collision with Kevin Doolan. Despite injuring his hand in doing so, he was also so quick to jump up and see how Kevin was and helping him back to his feet- nice to see some rider camaraderie. Sincerely hope Bandits survive good luck for the future. ps why is the F***in A1 between Newcastle and Wetherby always subject to night closures and diversions- 4 hours to get home and not sparing the horses! 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Unfortunately, we have to work with what we have, round the football pitch, which isn't the ideal shape for racing. What we would give for a custom made track like EWR. Never been myself, but from all accounts, provides good racing. The track was slick last night, as you say, probably due to the weather yesterday. You can tell when the likes of Ben Barker and Simon Lambert are struggling for drive, there mustn't be much there. As you say, can only commend Simon Lambert on his lay down last night.
