Ice Speedway 2019-2020

Dutch riders would love to race but the federation does not allow it.

Might change next year when we probably see the teams in Heerenveen.

Fed dont want to pay travel or what?

Federations world wide are full of d1kkheads but denying entry when there is no cost is stupid. But naturally not unheard of.

No, the KNMV has motorsport-wide goals for their national teams.

The ice guys cannot reach this goal.

Think it has something to do that the team has to be able to get a medal or something.

We have that as well. Or at least had.

The actual pts would give Dmitry Khomitsevich 106 pts with Danil Ivanov back on 103. (yet the FIM System gives Ivanov a 4 pts lead). 3rd would be a tie with Dinar Valeev & Igor Kononov on 89 pts. But FIM system has Valeev with a 9 pts cushion. How can that be better?

Harald Simon has 11 more pts than he has scored. Franz Zorn 7 more pts.

Biggest loser Khomitsevich minus 6 pts.

I’ve been frequently debating this new scoring system with some friends and collegues, and just fail miserably time after time to see how they think the new system is better just because it’s now more important to win meetings.

In ice racing for example its now  and more important to win 10 heats a season than the 70 heats last year. And this change is for the better...

Does the new system not make it easier for 3rd and 4th to catch up with the top two, technically making it a more open title race?

Not saying I agree with it but seeing as I'm going to Heerenveen, the more riders with a shot at the title the better

Hi Schwartz34,

I will be in Inzell & Heerenveen - look out for the Union Jack flag at start-line!!!

My concern is that at present the rider scoring the most actual race points is trailing in second.

Yes, i agree that the system is trying to keep the riders bunched together but in reality I feel that the racing in the heats does not mean as much & hence the racing suffers where as the semi-finals plus Final maybe too competitive causing accidents & injuries. Which is why I believe  the FIM changed it before. But hey-ho let`s see what the outcome is at the end of the SGP season in October.

Hi Steve

I'll keep my eyes peeled for the union jack, standing at the first corner on Saturday and sitting somewhere on the start/ finish on Sunday. Went to Heerenveen in 2017 for my first meeting and really enjoyed it although I felt the Herris fencing round the side spoils the view a bit ( for some reason they don't have it in Inzell). Can't come soon enough and although I probably preferred the last 2 years at Inzell, Amsterdam is easier to do in a weekend from Glasgow than Munich or Salzburg.

I hear what you're saying about the rider in second potentially having more points with the old scoring system. But, like my British Superbike analogy I feel the champion at the end of the year will be a deserving champion whether or not they would have been should the scoring be as per last year.

Enjoy Inzell and if I get a chance I'll say hi at Thialf

Tim Dixon will ride in Berlin tonight, despite having stitches in his thigh after a training crash in Sweden.

Good luck Tim
