Peterborough Panthers 2020

My wife has cancer in both lungs plus her hip amongst other places, recently finished an 18-week course of chemo, which hasn't worked, so is about to commence another 6-9 month course of a different chemo.

She's always loved her speedway at Peterborough, as do I to be honest, and now we'll NEVER be able to go there again.

It's a very sad day for us and the great many others that are disabled.

Removal of the concession isn’t a surprise, and brings speedway in line with other events on the Showground. What is needed is for the promotion to lay on a reliable buggy/shuttle service from the car-park, recognising the multiple barriers of rough ground, darkness and distance that blue-badge holders face. Whether they have the vision to do that remains to be seen.

It is also important that a similar clampdown is placed on all in-stadium parking, reducing it to the absolute minimum - a disabled person struggling towards the track being passed in a car by a member of track-staff who has no need to be driving in will cause a good deal of discontent.

How many accidents have there been?

Quite right Neil.  This new ruling should apply to ALL track staff, officials (including promoters),  and everyone else involved in running the speedway, it can't be one rule for one, and another for others.  It is 100% impossible for my wife to walk from the so called new designated parking areas.  GOODBYE PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY, it was nice whilst you allowed us to visit.

That’s a question for the current promotion

They'll never answer, so it's a waste of time asking, in any case, us blue badge holders will no longer be attending meetings to ask such questions,

So sorry to read about your wife. Fingers crossed for the new chemo.  Try and remain as positive as you possibly can in the circumstances,  there’s always hope!

this is certainly something that will upset a few people, it's a long walk from the carpark

The tales we are hearing  shows the crass stupidity  and insensitivity of showground management and it would seem how little Speedway management have done to help Blue Badge holders. To anybody with half a brain it is obvious that for Blue Badge holders it is not the parking space but the distance between turnstiles and track that is the problem.

Surely there's always room for common sense and exceptions. Speedway crowds are not that big and generally in the less problematic week with plenty of Showgrond space so is it comparing like with like? If they want to do something different for big meetings and publicise it like this then affected fans could decide whether or not to attend but a blanket ban without notification has made it a double issue.

Not really. It worked fine last year under both administrations and is anyone aware of incidents regarding pedestrians or service vehicle access?

I was referring to the publicity and PR rather than the vehicle access.

By the way, well done in spotting the notice and bringing it to our attention - this is an important change that's hidden away in a sub-menu rather than having a news item attached to it. It should be mentioned on the season ticket application too.

It was just a lucky spot. It wasn't really hidden away but just added on to existing information. It is what it is for whatever reason but should really have been communicated when agreed.
