Poole 2020

Recommended Posts

Lynn fans didn’t walk away from Saddlebow when Buster took us down a notch.  In fact the buzz came back to the place for a few years.   Loads of rider/fan interaction in those days.  Nothing wrong with the 2nd tier.  The standard there has remained constant

You dont have to be a fan of lower league speedway.............but you certainly arent a fan of Poole speedway if you dont feel its worth going if they drop down..............good job Ipswich fans didnt walk away from their club when we had to drop down...........and now look where we are .... a fully deserved grand final in our first season back

I do hope for Poole speedways sake that the rest of your fans arent fickle and you are simply a lone voice............because if other Poole regular fans who attend have the same stance as you then Poole speedway will go under

'If fans want to watch league racing they need to come along and watch it live'...............what a load of tripe............we cant all be like you and have nothing else in our lives that mean we can go to every meeting..........

You live in your own unique little world

For the real true Poole fans out there i hope you continue to support your club through good and bad and not just be so used to success that when it appears to be fading you desert your team

I supported them when we were in the lower league, where we had a considerable amount of success, would never turn my back on them what ever league they were in

Just got in to read this thread and have a good chuckle.

To be clear. I am not a fan of second division speedway. The top flight is bad enough and has tested my resolve this season. I am not interested in handing over money to watch lower league racing. I won’t be the only one who has this opinion. Crowds have dropped in recent seasons as the top flight has watered down. Less top riders equals smaller crowd. Fact.

I don’t believe Poole will drop down. Hopefully the any tv deal will be decent enough for clubs to remain secure financially. But rather no deal and no tv than BT getting a free ride to the detriment of the sport.  If fans want to watch league racing they need to come along and watch it live. Alternatively a tenner a meeting to watch the stream. But only for fans living outside a 30 mile radius. The sport would do far better with no deal, unless the money offered was close to what Sky were paying.

Did you go to the old National league in the 80'S ?

The standard is almost the same take a look at the averages...

Do averages tell a story? I mean Poole have 4 riders over 8 at the moment. Look back at 2008 or 9 and hardly any team had that. Does it mean the league is stronger now?

For once Starman is making some sense.

He is saying that the difference between PL and CL is smaller than ever as demonstrated by riders averages being similar in both leagues where they double up.

Back 'in the day' you could about half the 2nd tier average to see how a rider would score in the top league.

Now we have riders at No1 for their teams at both levels

Not GSA, but average including bonus points. Isn't that how it worked years ago? There was me thinking you can't compare one with the other. But maybe I made a mistake

Personally i tend not to look at averages because they never tell the whole story anyway

You have to look at the averages (GSA's) when you are team building cos thats how it works!!

Don't think your a fan of Poole either considering you would turn your back on the club if they were to run Championship Speedway in 2020. When times are tough that is when your club needs you the most.
