Birmingham Brummies 2020

Anyone else feel that the imminent roadworks and general buggering about in Perry Barr will have a negative effect on the speedway club? Be a shame if it does.

Well, of course it will. Despite being told by Transport for West Midlands on more than one occasion that the Sprint Bus Rapid Route will be implemented whether or not the the flyover is there, it's going.

And this is being brought to you by a local authority whose educational and child care services have deemed substandard for over a decade. Why, they can't even provide an efficient refuse collection service and haven't done for over two years. And then there was that interview on local telly last night with that council no-mark who stated that all they have to do now is find a contractor to do the work. Really? All that was sorted ages ago. As an authority, they are collectively unfit to run a bath without supervision.

Bad times for motorsport on the midlands with Birmingham Wheels being shut down on 31st January. The council set up charity owe, the  council 600k, after the council imposed retrospective rent increases on it's own charity!!!! All the various motorsports and experience days are all paid up to date on thier rent etc and are all going to be homeless. There is some stipulation that if the businesses were viable (which they all are), then the council are obliged to find them an alternative site.

In the unlikely event that this ever happened, I wonder if getting the speedway included into the new complex would be better logistically for the Brummies. As I say I am pretty sure I ve got more chance of a Nigerian prince phoning me about a lottery win then a new venue being found. But hey pipe dreams do happen some times.

Sadly Birmingham is run by an elected mayor called Andy Street who must rank as the worst politician of any Party in the UK and a City Council who are completely useless. Between them they could not shell a pea.

The Commonwealth Games - Village and various sites, may in the long term be to the benefit of Brummies in their current location but certainly for 2020 / 2021 / 2022 season won't do us any favours.

As for Wheels, it's in an awful location and was never really developed along lines intended. It is a shame that the council have screwed over the stock car, kart and other promotions/businesses working there as they all did good jobs.

Lets get a few facts straight...

Birmingham is run by a Labour council, whose decision it was to demolish the flyover in Perry Barr. The driving force were Councillors from wards far away from Perry Barr, who paid no regard to the Liberal Councillors of Perry Barr or to the people of Perry Barr, nor to the objections of Walsall or Sandwell Councils. Such is democracy in a Socialist controlled City.

Andy Street is a Tory Mayor of the WEST MIDLANDS, i.e. NOT Birmingham, He has no jurisdiction over Birmingham as was shown by the fact that his opposition to the demolition of the flyover counted for nothing.

Labour policy is one of "the motorist is the enemy" and people need to be coerced into using more public transport in order to save the world, or at least to improve the air quality in the inner city where most Labour voters live.

As has been said, it's going to be 25 months of hell in Perry Barr, the price that has to be paid for a better future.

We usually get to/from Perry Barr on the North A34 and park at the One Stop, how affected are we likely to be by the changes?

Big trouble ... I usually park outside the tile warehouse on the A34, and go round the block via Church Road on my way home (being too tight to pay for parking at the stadium).

100% Fact and true and for the record Andy Street is doing a pretty decent job in his role of major of west midlands.

Including ignoring people who asked for his views on turning Lion Farm Playing Fields     https://lionfarmproposals.com/       into an Outlet Village, I predict here and now this will become a white elephant if these proposals go through, we have a new Outlet Village at an advanced stage just up the M5/M6 at Cannock, make no mistake Andy Street is looking for a peerage of some sort, so he wont want to upset his Tory party donor property developer Jeremy Knight Adams.

Greyhoundp - would you prefer the Labour alternative?

Salma Yaqoob - who famously turned her back on British soldiers parading through Birmingham before leaving the Labour Party to join George Galloway's Respect Party?

I always assumed Birmingham picked Jack Thomas at reserve rather than Danyon Hume due to points limit, but just looked and seen they could've used Hume instead of Thomas & still been under the points limit! Odd they wouldn't want Hume!

People will disagree with me but he was very poor for us last season  .10 points from 5 meetings averaging 2.00. Granted maybe not given long enough . The amount of points he throws away over riding is beyond frustrating. Rumour has it he was dropped via a text message so the split wasn't very harmonious .He also took to social media to be a little critical of the management.

TBH if he was dropped by Text then the management deserve any criticism he fires their way.

There are polite and proper ways to sack people. Those being sacked may not like it but I daresay most would accept it more gracefully if it was done in a more correct manner.
