Same sort of stuff as well as car theft on many occasions... It baffles me why he git a chance at speedway unless he kept his nose clean fir the past 8 to 10 years or so.....

He was in a Middlesbrough jail in about 2004 and on release was sought by many teams, including Newcastle. They were all after him with his performances on the Sheffield training track before he got put away.

With Garrity likely looking at a stretch inside, Tomas H J letting us down at start of the season and a less than adequate replacement, I wonder if Peter and David aren't secretly hoping that there will be no real League Racing in 2020, get a few Open meetings in and go again in 2021 with 2 proper replacements as the other 5 look very solid?

Well, with the Aussies and continentals likely to be missing, all teams will probably have to make up the numbers with NL riders in reserve, for whatever rump of a season is left.

BIRMINGHAM supporters will be able to relive the night Speedway racing returned to Perry Barr this Wednesday (May 27, 7.30).
The Alan Hunt Memorial Trophy will be the focus of the latest 'Brummies In Your Living Room' series which has proved popular among the club's fanbase.
Team manager Laurence Rogers said: "As soon as this current season was delayed we were keen to provide supporters with their regular Wednesday night racing fix by bringing them old meetings online.
"At first we stuck to a selection of our meetings from last season but now we've decided to dig deeper into the archives.
"For the foreseeable future we'll be extending our series and supporters will be able to relive some dramatic fixtures from over the past 13 years or so.
"Our thanks once again go to ReRun Productions for providing us with the footage and we hope supporters continue to enjoy these streams while it is viable to bring them their way."
A link, featuring nearly 90 minutes of footage including interviews with Ivan Mauger, Tony Mole, Graham Drury and Jason Lyons among others, will be posted on the club's official website and social media channels at 7.30 prompt this Wednesday (May 27).
The fixture took place on March 21, 2007 and a competitive field was assembled for the historic re-opening.

No point in running a bags meeting with no betting shops open..

There will be "sports" TV stations busting a gut to show some "Live sport", and as has been said online and telephone betting won't be impaired.

That said, even in "normal days" there were never more than 20 spectators at afternoon dog meetings. You could space them out 10 metres apart and there would be room to spare. Maybe the punters could tic-tac their bets in to the bookies too?

If anybody is interested in the Garrity sarga his case got adjourned last week as he awaits sentence... Hopefully a 6 to 10 year stretch.. what a fool as he has some talent on a bike

Sounds like he didn't have a very good upbringing? (not making excuses for him)

Such a waste......he's a very likeable character (in speedway terms) and a terrific entertainer on a bike!

Wished that he'd had better guidance in life!

It seems the first phase of the Perry Barr regeneration programme, which eventually lead to demolition of the Flyover on the A34 will commence from next Monday for 18 months. Seems in the first phase the Flyover will still be in use.

In the first phase, (2020) t's going to affect anyone who:

  • Used to park in Wellhead Lane - That road is now closed off.
  • Park in One Stop Shopping Centre - pedestrian route to the stadium will be altered.
  • Parks on-street on Walsall Road - don't be surprised if Walsall Road on-street parking is suspended.
  • Parks in Stadium Car Park - capacity will be reduced when a portion of the car park by the decrepit "next fixture board" is acquired for road widening.

STILL, as the probability is that there won't be any speedway this year, it won't matter too much. Next year, with the flyover coming down, Aldridge Road between the stadium and the railway station being closed, and the road widening work right on the stadium carpark doorstep going on,  that will be more "fun".
