No no no you miss the point! Using the rules to your advantage is fine if you do gain from it!!  Its a bit of a waste of time if you don't! lol

Using loopholes isn't cheating.

I've seen all team managers try it this last year or so. It's annoying but not cheating.

Which is why for some years there has been a call for the rules to be rewritten from scratch, and preferably by an independent body. The constant poorly worded amendments and addendums give rise to loopholes.

It’s interesting to see that people think rules are always ‘bad things’ whereas the intention is just to set out the terms and restrictions under which the sport is to be run.

The rules aren’t there to punish you, they are (meant to be) there to assist you by setting out what is mandatory and what is allowable.

But stopping a fit rider from riding and making another rider pretend to have engine failures is not “loopholes”, it’s CHEATING.

The CHEATING Poole Pirates.

CL, you’ve been warned.

We lived with Ian Thomas's expert shenanigans for years in the second tier. I doubt whether Poole will be anything like their tier 1 version, well at least for a while.....

Don’t you bet on it. They’ll be doing it already, signing their team!

Strange!!  I can't quite remember what punishment the Pirates received? Oh but of course, they didn't!!

Real Cheating is when a team calls off a meeting due to 'a waterlogged track', when despite photographic evidence to the contrary and the fact they would be missing their number 1 rider was the real reason!!  And they got understandably punished for it!!

The fact that Poole were investigated by the BSPA on that occasion and that the allegation was found “unproven” by the closed, smoke filled room of the BSPA, rather than them being declared innocent spoke volumes.

We who were there saw what happened, whether the BSPA wished to admit it or not.

That was the year the Play Offs were reduced from 6 places back to 4 mid season, shortly after the shenanigans at the Abbey, so not totally unfounded.

Spot on.

A case of we won’t officially find Poole guilty of cheating, we’ll just make sure they can’t win it.

Cheating is stopping a rider completing all his meetings to keep him at reserve, loophole for some, cheating for others.
