So many messages on Poole Speedway's social media platforms regarding the passing of Gordon Day yesterday.

Tributes from promoters, managers, riders, journos, sponsors, mechanics and of course the fans from many clubs from all around the world..

Sadly missed. Rest in Peace Gordy.

I didn't know the man but read about him from time to time in Speedway Star and now seen some of the messages you refer to.

Great servant of Poole and to speedway.

A very sad loss. Such a nice chap. Hopefully a lovely tribute to Gordy will be coming when speedway returns to Wimborne Road.

So with news that Greyhound racing around the stadium has ceased is it still viable as a sporting venue when possibly only used for less than 20 speedway meetings per year - You could get a heck of a lot of flats on the stadium plot ..... or a substantial supermarket !!
And rest assured if we ever come out of the other side of this pandemic the local council will almost definitely be looking to bolster its dwindling coffers and if its a contest of selling the plot against a handful of days rent per annum well that’s not much of a contest is it ?

Yes, I thought the agreement with Poole Council was that you had to have both greyhounds and speedway running. You couldn't have just have one or the other. Though it may have just been to stop the greyhounds trying to kick speedway out? Unsure how the council are going to play this?
