It looks like there maybe more teams than before next yr, what would be a suitable average to build a championship side too ,personally last yrs was a bit miserly , if it is going to be open house to 3-4 other teams then should it be 38, 40, 42.5 or 45 limit  ?

Think it has to be 40 or 42.5. Need the ability to bring in a few riders.

Agree and set it for at least 2 seasons, no faffing about at the end of next season making team planning easier.

Agree. Just from looking at the averages. A lot of clubs 2/2.5 points over the limit.

42.5 allows big hitters to come in.

There we are then, sorted inside an hour, 42.5 limit, set for 2 seasons, done and dusted, disregarding how many teams :) Will never happen though, far too simple :(

The 2 reserves need to be riders from the NL if that league is going to have any relevance in the future.

The 1-5 should only have 2 riders doubling up so the PL needs to sort itself out.

not sure they need to be National League but would like to see British and under-21 at reserve - which may not be quite the same. They do not have to be protected for the season - ie they can move up into the main body of the team  - but personally I would allow them to stay at six and seven all season.

1000% agree

Reserves should have to be British, under age 21 and should stay at reserve all season, with two protected heats where they only face their opposing reserves

A nice idea in principle , but as Jenga alluded to , the authorities dont let that happen .

Cast your mind back to 2005 .Lower ranked riders were rated A ,B and C . You could choose your reserves to be an A and a C or have two B rated riders . They were to stay at reserve all season .

Rye House's A reserve was Steve Boxall . Who improved from the previous season immensely and started banging in double figure scores home and away as Rye House swept all before them . Similarly at a slightly less productive level Jon Armstrong was doing the same at either Mildenhall or Stoke ( I canny remember which ) .

Mid season the authorities decided this couldn't be allowed to continue , so both Boxall and Armstrong were ordered into the main body of their respective teams . So it's a nice idea , but as soon as a reserve starts getting heat leader scores, it gets changed .

It was pretty gut wrenching at the time as Rye had signed Jamie Courtney who had to go into the team and then use a Raider as the other reserve.

Stuart Robson gets injured then Courtney then Luke Bowen but still they enforced Boxall to move into the team.

Still the following year Rye signed Woffinden and he definitely wouldn’t have been allowed to stay as a reserve all season.

I wouldn’t want that if I were you, it was one of the bad points of the Elite League draft reserve system.

It gave the teams with the best three or four reserves a massive advantage. Newman and Garrity cleaned up.

Either they’ll be good enough to move into the top five, like Anders Rowe, or they’ll stay at reserve or drop back down.

Did Maksym Drabik not finish in the top 10 Polish Elite league averages (for Wroclaw) this season.  He was at reserve all season.  Could make it that only Brits can be at reserve during the season?.

Yes, daft, isn’t it.

This year’s two pointers have shown they don’t need protection.
