He excels when there is a #1 in the team but when he has to step up - he seems to have a mental block. I think this is the case for most heat leaders/2nd strings that move to no1 as heat 1 favours the inside line(both teams no2's if they gate) & rides against mainly heat leaders(no1 & no5 twice & 3/4 once) & not the easier rides against 2nd string & reserves.
