Leicester Lions 2020

Heard lots of things have been done at the track but nothing about the track lights which I think are very poor. Hope this will be sorted as well.

Dan Thompson was taken to Hospital on Thursday 26th of March with appendicitis. He had the operation to remove his appendix on Friday and is already back home and recovering well! His family wish to pass on their gratitude to the Hospital staff, who they say, "were brilliant" in looking after Dan.:t:

Track lighting just needs to be even for riders, their problems come when there's a brighty-lit patch, then a dark bit, etc, etc

The lights have been repositioned so they light the track rather than the sky and trees.

I used to like watching the sky and trees... sometimes more entertaining than the racing

I agree that the positioning of lighting had an effect but last season it was more of a problem that the bulbs are coming to the end of their lifetime remember they were not brand new when installed.

I can understand that the promotion do not want the expense of all new lighting but if they installed arc discharge bulbs along the straights the additional light would radiate into the bends

how come everyone seems to be hiring Leicester speedway all of a sudden ?

They always have been hiring the track. Over the last ten seasons they have built up a good network of people who hire it throughout the season, they know what they get,  a well organised day, with a reasonable surface.  Possibly one difference this year is that its received more publicity as there are no competitive meetings.

Spotted in Speedway Star recently......

Sergei Darkin makes comeback to help out Togliatti, age 47

Ilya Bondarenko returns to action for Vladivostock. Is he still using lawnmower engines?

Greg Walasek regularly putting up double figures at No.1 for Opole

Who would we see making a comeback for the Lions if any matches take place this year??

A Golden Gauntlets featuring last years team and this years team and Kim Nilsson, Martin Vaculik, Przedpelski plus others

With match races after every 4 heats featuring Les Collins, Neil Collins and 2 other ex Lions "legends"... who I can't think of at the moment (how old are those guys these days?)

Good fun. was Henning during his short stint.

Announced at signing as being an "out and out number one" by our beloved former promoter Mr Hemsley. By that time, many had become accustomed to his blarney and didn't for one minute believe that, and of course Henning got nowhere near to that status. But along with Kevin Doolan, he knew how to work a crowd.

He had a really weird style and who could forget the somersault over the air fence against Newport and walking back to the pits through the crowd.
