15,000 rioters in a BLM march crammed into one street 4 wks ago hasnt seemed to cause a spike despite ZERO social distancing.

Very little to worry about if we apply common sense.

Exactly, how can thousands cram onto beaches and go on marches, yet speedway and lower league football cannot run with meagre attendances.

a boost for the sporting sect is that goodwood are looking to run a meeting at theyre racing festival the last week in july, attendance around 5,000 as a trial, members and owners attending. Thoroughly sensible idea, if 5,000 can go there which takes 5 times that then it should open the flood gates for other sport from early august.

But I think the "R" number has risen just recently as a direct result of the marches and crowded beaches.  We will only see success in ridding ourselves

of this Covid 19 if ALL the public observe the rules...and that is a pipe dream.

The proof is in the figures.         Wales, Scotland and Ulster have kept a firmer lid on masks and distancing, and are down to about two or three Covid-19 deaths in a week between them.

England, where the vast majority of marches and beach ignorances have been taking place, is still recording around forty deaths a week.

To get speedway back, the virus has to be reduced and later eliminated (not eradicated, that's a pipedream) and if everyone plays their part -- and the Westminster parliament concentrates on saving lives rather than saving rich people's profits.

It does appear that outdoor activities create a lesser risk than crowds indoors -- bad news for cinemas, clubs and pubs -- and this may allow 25% stadium capacity to be invoked, and speedway to make a return.

Cannot disagree with that.  Most Speedway venues are  basically outdoors.  But we will be counted like soccer and rugby and no allowance made for our

comparatively modest numbers.

Saw on telly today that sports stadiums are to re-open in the Autumn.  Does that mean September ? October ?  Will it happen for Speedway ?

Dodgy weather at that time of year and I guess a lot of clubs will decide to call it a day now as Glasgow did.  Does anyone know any better ?

Looks like Kent will need a team change should this season ever start as it appear Nico Covatti has decided to sit out racing over here.

The season might start for some clubs, but league racing might be just a pipe dream.

Suggestions generally seem to be that racing might get going in October.  Could be too little too wet.

How do you know that ?  Is it just for 2020, or permanent ?

I don't think he'll be the first especially the slightly older riders, earn enough to make a  living, and still get his adrenaline fix at the weekend with speedway or grass track/long track.

Not entirely. Reporting methods need to be taken into account. In England if you've had covid 19 and recovered over a month ago, then get die from other causes (i.e. road accident) then it is still recorded as a covid-19 death. In Scotland and Wales it is only recorded as a covid death if you've been tested positive within the last 28 days. According to one newspaper today the English death count is over estimated by approx 4000, because of this.

Speedway won't be back this year in the UK. One positive covid test in Poland resulted in a 50% cancellation of this week-ends fixtures, and it could  be worse depending on the test results taking place tomorrow (matches I've watched on tV seem to have an awful lot of mechanics, officials breathing through their throats judging how some seem to wear the masks). If riders start flying here, there, and everywhere again one positive test could result in matches being cancelled all over the place.
