Why 4 teams with a bye ?

Is anybody interested in the KOC these days?

It holds no weight in my calendar!

Interesting that in the quarter finals it is the 4 winners in the first round who will race against each other , as will the 4 byes . Doesn't seem very random

Strange way to do it ,normally the full draw would put 1st round winner v bye. Doesnt make a lot a difference but why change things.Thats speedway though nothing simple.

1st Round

Poole v Edinburgh
Leicester v Berwick
Birmingham v Redcar
Somerset v Glasgow

Byes:
Eastbourne
Kent
Newcastle
Scunthorpe

Quarter Finals

Scunthorpe v Kent ‬
‪Birmingham/Redcar v ‬Poole/Edinburgh‬
‪Somerset/Glasgow v ‬Leicester/Berwick‬
‪Eastbourne v Newcastle‬

What a load of rubbish, four clubs having byes!

Why not have six ties with the two best losers also going through?

At least then everyone would be involved from the start, everyone would ride the same number of matches to get to the final and teams losing in the first round would still ride hard for every point.

Sounds like a good idea. I am not aware that it has ever been done ?  Can anyone enlighten me ?  So far as I remember, every KO cup has started off with

some Byes if the numbers make it so.  This year is no different.

The only difference is the the Teams that got a bye are racing Each Other in the 2nd round, normally they race aTeam from previous round, of course that could have been the way the 2nd round was drawn ,but you would get good odds on that happening!!

You really think that's a splendid suggestion? Knocked out in the first round then re-instated because you were beaten by a potentially weaker team than someone else!! :t:

At least all teams would have raced to get into the second round rather than have a free ticket.

They do it in the rugby union Heineken Cup, Europe’s top competition.
