Bavarian 763 Posted January 9, 2021 Same here where it is snowing in Bavaria this morning. Isn't it great to see the people over there enjoying their speedway, not having to constantly worry about the Corona virus. Seems to be all pretty normal going in Australia. This was a rather tame race meeting so far until that nasty accident just now in the B-final. Rob Medson was thrown over the back straight fence after a collision, and so far has not got up to his feet again. Hope he's o.k. - it is a rather lenghty delay now, and they have not moved the injured rider so far. Doesn't look good.
Bavarian 763 Posted January 9, 2021 Probably a broken leg for Medson. Not too bad, he is concious, that's the good News. Could have been worse.

But this week's speedway in Brisbane was called off because of covid - so all is not back to normal. I'm sure anyone promoting a speedway meeting down under is still worrying about all the time and money invested being written off because of a local lockdown. And for spectators there are still covid restrictions to cope with, e.g. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules/major-sporting-events
Bunce 347 Posted January 9, 2021 Haven't they got Covid 19 in the Mildura area? Didn't see anybody wearing a facemask, and certainly no social distancing.

Victoria for the last 3 months or so, maybe less, has seen a slow return to normal life. Masks no longer compulsory outdoors , social distancing relaxed etc. Up until two weeks ago, masks weren't compulsory inside either. We had 60 days of no new cases and 0 active cases but just before christmas a couple came over from Sydney with the virus so a small spread started again but it was stamped on pretty quick. Anyone coming from overseas has to isolate in a hotel for two weeks on arrival , costing around $3500. So still far from normal and whilst most of the rest of the world is still suffering big cases and numbers, that isnt going to change. I remember back in March/April 2020 some said this virus could be causing carnage well into 2022 and at the moment that looks like being the case. my old man was due to come this Christmas just gone and obviously had to cancel. We said dont worry as next year would be better with the Ashes being held in Australia. Now its looking increasingly likely he wont be able to come this christmas either.
