I wonder why this has only been brought in for the Premiership and not the Championship?

Well, there's always going to be a some bad eggs, and it seems there is cheating of one form or another in every sport.

Possible sanctions:

Pawel Polski is seen to be a proven liar and has his licence to ride in British speedway revoked (or something like that)

His replacement signing no longer has a team place and the club have to run r/r for the remainder of the season. Very tough on the replacement but would make clubs and riders think twice before signing and/or pulling these stunts.

Looking at Swindon last year, Lampart got banned by polish team, Wajknecht retired, Musielak was (temporarily) injured, Nielsen was (temporarily) injured!

Since they brought Musielak back when he was fit but didn't bring Nielsen back - should that count as a transfer? Otherwise what's to stop a team using a free "injury transfer" for someone who may only be out for two weeks?

Also have they decided how "retired / banned / withholding services" affects these transfer options?

How long before some team finds a way around it :)

A rider "retires"?

So how long should a rider be out before an injury replacement is allowed? Must it be an injury sustained on track?

Any ideas how

Providing the window closes before X percent of that teams matches remain to be completed would it not be best to be the team having the most matches to complete and therefore having the pick of the available riders who have been on the merry go round prior to the window closing?

Good point and one possibly not thought through when the window idea was muted

The window needs to be open/closed at the same time for ALL teams and not flexible to individual circumstances for the very reason you state

But you have to remember that it is the bspa that come up with these ideas and how they are applied.

From the 2020 Regulations :

"012.2 TEAM COMPOSITION

A Premiership team’s initial declaration must not exceed 42.50 with a minimum average permitted being 3.00.

Riders declared in a Premiership 1-7 are ineligible to compete in the NDL.

A Championship team’s initial declaration must not exceed 41.00 with the minimum average permitted being 2.00.

A Premiership declaration must not exceed 42.50 points in any declaration following the issue of established MA’s for 2020, except where the MA of the introduced rider is equal to, or lower than the rider being replaced.

A Premiership Transfer Window opens after 25% of the League fixtures are complete and closes when 75% of League fixtures are complete. This permits changes to the team on 2 occasions, except for proven long term injury."

Looks like nothing came of our reservations (you can't tell me none of the authorities don't read this forum ).

Plenty of room for confusion and manoeuvre there !!

As planned, the PL season was scheduled to be 168 matches, so the transfer window would open after 42 matches across all clubs and close after 126 matches. Clear isn't it?......

So not 25% and 75% for each club?

Hardly a level.playing field if one club had raced 12 and one 6 when 42 was reached......

I’m simply basing my opinion on the fact that the rule refers to 25% of the League fixtures not 25% of a Club’s fixtures.
