What on earth are you  on about?

Have you never heard of the detergent "Bold"? It was a joke - and a very clever one, if you ask me...

A FACEBOOK look at Rye House happenings:

It has absolutely nothing to do with "happenings" at Rye House. It is a group where YOU basically just share a few photos, and post links to your websites/pages.

Perhaps because there is nothing happening at Rye House at the moment chunky! There's nothing been mentioned on here either in regard to Rye House and 'its revival' for sometime!

The group is not even designed to reflect "happenings" at Rye House; it is a place for people to share memories, and a place to post links. Anyway, why are you talking to me here, but when I ask you genuine questions, you are just bloody ignorant and totally ignore me?

It's reported that Facebook has gone down in the UK.  Is is due to the increased traffic accessing this group?

Well I visit some 10 FACEBOOK groups - including the multi-membership SPEEDWAY FRIENDS (more members than the BSF) and it's very much 'business as usual'.

"No problems" and "Business as usual", yet I see this post

Why do you just insist on posting links? I keep telling you that you should TALK to people! Tell them that Peter Tarrant was an excellent dart player. Or discuss how spectacular Kerry Gray was. Or your memories of the lively Glen Baxter.

Why  should I discuss these people who until reading your Post had never heard of them!

Why do you create a Facebook group on a subject about which you know nothing? They are all well-known Rye House riders, John!

That altrcaon happened during the supposed massive FACEBOOK failure. I posted not knowing about the supposed massive FACEBOOK failure. Or is the too much for you o understand?

Based on the time stamps of the relevant messages, you had posted to the speedway friends group complaining about problems, THEN came on here and said that everything is business as usual, in reply to someone saying that there were issues...

That timing just seemed strange to me.

Please!!!! We are nearly at the end of year 2021 yet the thread emphasises Year 2020 which has long ceased to be discussed on here!

How many times do you need telling?    This thread is about efforts to bring back Rye House which began in 2020, and which are still ongoing.   Hence the thread is still ongoing.   It's not a difficult concept to understand.

I think, going on past experience, he needs telling quite a lot x 10 :D

I remember Kerry Gray, I fell off during a training session at Hackney and he ran over to see if I was ok. Smashing fella!

Kerry Gray guested for Wolves in 84 and had a massive 5-1 in heat 11 (I think) to help us beat Cradley that’s good enough for me

I will make a very brief return to clarify some points made here.

Yes, I do have a very detailed knowledge of what is going on, having served throughout this saga as an advisor to Steve Ribbons. We have been friends for many years.

I have therefore read and advised on all correspondence between the Rye House Action Group, the leaseholders, Carter & Bailey, the land owners, The Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, the planning authority, East Herts Council and also the SCB. I also supplied information to the public via the Speedway Star and social media. I even trusted this forum to accept the information I was sharing in good faith. Sadly while most responses were intelligent and respectful about our efforts others saw personal vendettas as far more important.

At the point where I ceased posting here I also told Steve to 'leave me out of the loop' for some time while I dealt with my own ill-health. After a good break I hope now to resume assisting.

I will however keep postings here to an absolute minimum.

Here is the current situation:

All is on hold until the planning application is heard by the council. We hope that this will not be delayed too much further.

We have issued a detailed proposal which would see the speedway track restored and racing resume. This was at the invitation of the kart promoters who even suggested that we might be able to resume racing in time to join the NDL in 2022.

They subsequently changed their position to say that our proposal was now to be included in a list of options to be considered after seeing their planning permission granted.

Much work has taken place. The stadium and race track have been modified but not irreversibly. We have engaged specialists to assess the way to reinstate and crucially the cost.

We do have access to funds that would pay for track  reinstatement and entry to the NDL.

We have the technical, legal and financial resources to see this project through. Steve is a key player but far from the only. We are not dreamers but sadly right now we are in  the hands of the kart promoters. THESE THINGS TAKE TIME.

I am not going down the road of this being a starting point for what is too often damaging and ill-informed speculation.

Our priorities lie with the job in hand, not satisfying the egos of the darker side  of the BSF.

Sorry to the decent contributors.

Rob McCaffery.

(51 year fan)
