While I understand people's reluctance to accept lockdown restrictions I think it's sad that people are more interested in trying to find loop holes & legal reasons to enable them to basically go on a jolly rather than trying to contain the virus.

It's pretty obvious that to contain something you need boundaries. If everyone's 'local' boundaries intersect then there's no containment, it doesn't need a high court judge to work that out.

The trouble is that the government has tried to appeal to people's common sense in understanding "do not leave your home unless absolutely necessary" which was always going to be a loser.

People aren’t trying to find loopholes.

They’re entitled to go out for an hour’s exercise, entirely within the rules, but the police are interfering.

Tens of thousands of Covid-19 tests have been double-counted in the Government’s official tally, public health officials have admitted. Diagnostic tests which involve taking saliva and nasal samples from the same patient are being counted as two tests, not one. The Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England each confirmed the double-counting.  https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/tens-thousands-coronavirus-tests-have-double-counted-officials/?fbclid=IwAR33hq_a4vIYXaQyJ8zwwdWIyvNzsHYc018oPcwXa6dZ6ajncWKoKrJ_coo

I would generally agree but as I keep stating the guidelines (whether in Lockdown or the Tier System) are often confusing, contradictory, unclear. I constantly keep referring back to the official GovUk guidelines as I attempt to clarify in my own mind what is acceptable practice whether it be exercise, essential shopping, creating a 'bubble' etc etc.

The problem with this idea is the government haven’t been using common sense so how can they expect the public too?

We went out for a walk today, and randomly bumped into (not all at the same time) 5 different people and their partners who we knew. Are we supposed to ignore them, and what harm is it doing standing 2+ metres apart to have a chat?

You should have ignored them and carried on with your day!!!,,, next lockdown rules to come in, 'illegal to have friends or chat to folk, if you know them or not'??? ;)

I've witnessed dozens of people in the town centre where I work milling around with very little reason to be there

I've have though only witnessed 1 arrest - that of a homeless man where the police did actually state during the reading of his rights that you are only allowed to leave your home for specific legal reasons!!

Not sure what you mean but LF tests can give 50% fewer positives than PCR ones so maybe 90,000 nurses should be off sick?

Alternatively, if they’re positive but not ill they are ideal for working in Covid wards!

What I do know is that at the local hospital they believe that they are about 30% accurate.

Whether that is in comparison to the PCR test they are reverting to or to those who fall ill I don't know.

It's interesting in light of the government announcement that they are going to test many more people with no symptoms using the flow test though I think.

What did they do, put him in a box? ;)

No time limit, that is an urban myth

Because although less accurate it’s far quicker and can pick up some pre-symptomatics.
