According to Government scientists, Israel did everything right and Sweden did everything wrong...

Yes and I guess they meant over the course of the pandemic, not the last few weeks as Israel have around half the deaths that Sweden do. And as discussed yesterday that is just cases and you keep telling us that is a load of old bull :D

Have any scientists compared the long term effects of the vaccine with the long term effects of being dead ? That would be an interesting study ;)

Seems the Aussies have gone full Tonto into totalitarianism.
We should offer asylum to the oppressed , as we did with Hong Kong, and allow those who wish to flee, a home in the U.K. especially those with skills we need, for NHS , haulage etc.
However there is no guarantee we will not follow the same road in the coming months, with the NHS certain to fall on its ar5e again.
These virtue signallers will of course trumpet the usual line come November about our heroic war dead who saved us from tyranny, only to introduce it ourselves.
There really is no end in sight to this. Making people desperate will lead to them doing desperate things…….look out Dan.

Careful Fenway. I said something very similar a while ago and was rewarded with a BSF holiday.

Can anyone make sense of the BBC’s conclusion:

“On Tuesday, the UK reported a further 26,628 cases and another 185 deaths within 28 days of a positive test. The most recent data showed there were 8,413 Covid patients in hospital.

On 15 September last year, there were 3,105 daily cases and 27 deaths reported, along with 1,066 Covid patients in hospital.

However, vaccines are now offering extensive protection against severe illness.”

Vaccines have helped so much that we have 700% more cases, 500% more deaths and 700% more in hospital!  :)

The obvious answer is that England and to a lesser extent Wales and Scotland have removed most of the restrictions that were in place at the same time last year. In particular, mass attendance events are happening and venues where social distancing is non-existent have opened.

That will inevitably lead to a rise in cases - amongst the vaccinated (as no vaccination is 100% effective) as well as unvaccinated, though a jump of 158 deaths (especially given the questionable recording protocol) does not seem that statistically significant against the 2,000+ people you'd normally expect to die every day in the UK.
