If lockdowns work, could you just explain why Sweden has done better than the six-month lockdowned UK?

Thought it had been explained a thousand times. I would put a lot down to having a much larger population. London having more than Sweden and the amount that commute and travel to a major work/ tourist centre would be the main difference as to why a lockdown could and should be more successful in a country like Norway or Denmark

But, as we’ve seen, Sweden is actually more densely populated than the UK, because while there are many open spaces most people live in urban settings.

Surely contagion should have been rife in 1 million populated Stockholm without lockdowns?

As o said , it isn’t just down to the population density itself. But the movement in and out of the big cities as another factor. London has more than Stockholm in density as well as total population, but has a much bigger commuting and tourist population and it was one that wasn’t really stopped. Sweden were more strict on tourists tv coming in. The UK being very lax

Dr. Haruo Ozaki may be the Chairman of the Tokyo Medical Association, but he can only make suggestions. He is not the Japanese Health Ministry and cannot approve ivermectin for use against COVID-19.

 

As of 28 August 2021, Japan still does NOT allow Ivermectin to be used to treat or prevent COVID-19.

In their July 2021 edition of COVID-19 treatment guidelines, Ivermectin is still listed in the category of drugs whose “efficacy and safety have not been established“.

So the reason Sweden bettered lockdowned UK were:

London being more densely populated than Stockholm - is it?

the UK government failing to restrict tourists coming into the country, despite the fact that most restricted themselves anyway by not coming;

the government failing to impose a lockdown that did not sufficiently stop commuting, despite asking people to work from home?

Are they just personal notions or do you have some evidence in support?
