Why don’t they give a reminder everyday that age, infirmity and obesity are the biggest risks to a bad outcome from a Covid? Why isn’t that drilled into us in the same way that the importance of vaccination is? Might it be because it undermines the vaccination message for those who are young and healthy? Just another example of truth being sacrificed for expediency. Well they had a project to tell people . I am fairly sure it is common knowledge anyway. I obviously can't say what is on UK tv, but here we have weekly, probably daily programmes telling us how important it is to eat and live helthily. We have cases of real people who have joint problems or diabetes etc and how changing their diet can change their health.... I imagine as in most cases, these things are regularly in the press, just some people don't see them. Just like some people don't know the existence of speedway despite news coverage and posters around town....... Share this post Link to post

Yes, we have plenty of diet, fitness and health programmes but none links them to Covid. A reminder on the daily news every night that age, infirmity and obesity are the three biggest Covid killers might help people focus on how they themselves can reduce risks without relying on vaccination and restricting the freedoms of other people. 1 Share this post Link to post

DC2 10,664 Posted December 5, 2021 Shredded wheat has less than 1% sugar, Frosties 37%. Why does the government allow this? Sure, if adults want the freedom to eat sugary foods they can freely spoon on as much sugar as they like, but do parents realise how much sugar is in cereal and would responsible ones allow their children to sprinkle ten tea spoonfuls if all cereal were less than 1%? It is argued that the context of the pandemic has produced a range of discourses around obesity that are more stigmatising than usual in both the tabloids and the broadsheets, with people with obesity being construed, for example, in especially fatalistic terms and as being responsible for the problems facing the country’s healthcare system. At the same time, the pandemic context also seems to have given rise to some more positive changes to press coverage of obesity, with race-related health disparities receiving more focus than usual and the right-leaning press being more likely to critique the Conservative Government than it usually is, resulting in an arguably more balanced style of reporting. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17405904.2021.1933116 Share this post Link to post

Mask-wearing has been promoted 1,000 fold over losing weight, to the point where laws enforce it. Share this post Link to post

Little bit of simple science. If you have 2 guys 6 ft tall, 1 is 30 stone and the other is 15 stone, if you take them apart you'll probably find that they're structure, (skeleton) that is holding them up are probably about the same size. All moving parts, like joints and stuff the same too,,, if you were to imagine these joints as bearings and realised that one set is taking double the stress of the other one, which one in normal circumstances would last longer? That TV news show is from January 2021 when the minister, Theresa Coffey, said being fat is the reason the UK suffered most, and as Susanah Read said: how come she’s saying that only now when Boris admitted it about himself in May 2020? Seven months with barely a mention about obesity and Covid! Anyway, good to see the esteemed Doctor Aseem Malhotra being called upon again though. 1 Share this post Link to post

Oh you watched one of the programmes on tv discussing this ? I have also seen quite a lot. Plenty of newspaper articles and magazines full of this stuff. You don't live too far from DC2 . Maybe you could send him one. He doesn't seem to think they exist. Ta muchy Share this post Link to post

Shredded wheat is not food, it's processed junk. By the time the body converts the refined carbs into sugars, it's then laid down as fat. It's just the lesser of two evils. Over 90% of all 'food' advertised on TV is garbage, because it's cheap to produce and provides the biggest profit margin. Don't blame the butter for what the bread did... 1 Share this post Link to post
