How about the complete lack of anything resembling racing unless its bordering on dangerous, it being in one of the most unpleasant cities in the UK, the extortionate prices that they charge for food, parking and accommodation?

People bang on about it being "a day out" and "atmosphere ".  Nobody is interested.  People go for the racing, and year in and year out it's boring; follow the leader rubbish.

We have a track in Manchester which is tailored for great racing, yet they continue to persevere with this dump?

Get rid of it.  Its crap.

I can see some sense is what is said by Rocket.   Cardiff does have its bad points.  There is obvious profiteering from some well known companies who bulk buy hotel rooms and then sell on individually for profit.  Its a quick buck made from fans.   The racing can be from the gate in a lot of heats.    Manchester is a far better track for proper racing but Cardiff does have the plus points of having a stadium in the centre of town and a roof.     Its not complusory you buy booze at inflated prices, plenty of time for booze before and after if your a drinker.

Id be surprised if Cardiff goes ahead July 18th  The Open golf is cancelled on the same weekend and Wimbledon the previous weekend has gone.    Its not an event that would run behind closed doors.   International travel into the UK has to be monitored closely for a long while yet.   Maybe I'm too pessimistic.

Last night on You Tube I watched all 23 races the 2016 Cardiff GP, the one where Danny King scored 7, including a last race win over some of the worlds best. Apart from that there was many a good race. For sure Cardiff has had its share of boring races, all tracks do, I seen more then a few at the infamous Hyde Road track. Year in year out boring, not Cardiff in my opinion.
yes, the current BV track would be a worthy race track for GP, but only 10,000 capacity at the best, I would go for that, but don’t you think hotel prices in Manchester would shoot up in prices, all cities do when their is an event on, and Manchester has plenty of events so the hoteliers are well used to hosting guests and raising prices accordingly.

Big difference between these events. The open golf will take months to construct the building of grandstands and other spectator amenities and the bill would run into millions. Cardiff would only need about 4 days to be ready.

Wimbledon had an insurance policy against this sort of incident, which is rumoured to be at around £125 million pounds so cancelling was not a financial problem for them.

i do agree with you about international travel and will the stadium be available due to it being used as a hospital at the moment.

The Caddymaster at Royal St Georges told me it takes at least two months to have everything in place well before the Open week starts...

Maybe that's part of the reason but it's a huge crowd congregated daily plus movement of that crowd over the uk..  Having 45000 land on Cardiff not ideal for the same reason.

NOTHING definite with any of the SGP rounds. It is such a fluid situation. None of us know the end game. What I do know is that BSI, the FIM and the various organisers are in contact daily but provisional schedules are constantly being revised.

Cannot compare Cardiff with The Open. Outside events like that, especially at a venue with limited access like Royal St George, require grandstands, hospitality, etc, etc to be built. The British SGP is only needs the track to be laid which doesn't usually start until the preceding Monday. Silverstone say it takes 12 weeks to prepare for a F1 GP.

No doubt BSI and the FIM are still clinging to July 18th but the Principality has a roof and staging it there late (very late maybe) in the year must come into the equation surely?

I have hotel and tickets booked for Cardiff and hopefully it can go ahead on the 18th of July but the longer this goes on the less likely it will go ahead on that date.

There are big issues to sort out when eventually the cases subside , which will take months to come to fruition.

Disagree golf, speedway and Silverstone cannot be compared.  Mass gathering of people with overseas travel involved for all three events.

Exactly. You can hardly start a ‘series’, until all the countries and their riders involved have opened up their borders and ok’d sporting events. Doubt any Polish rider for instance is going to leave their country until they know they will get back in ok, without having to spend 2 weeks in quarantine. That goes for all the others as well

This seems to confirm what other countries have also been saying...,
