Quiz

I quite enjoyed the first episode of Quiz on ITV last night.

It'll be interesting to see how it develops tonight and tomorrow with the Millionaire shenanigans .

Shame ITV dont put funding into decent programmes instead of stupidity like this.

This was a very serious crime, yet they're trying to make a big joke out of it?  What are they trying to prove?

I think it’s very entertaining.

And Major Ingram played a blinder with all of those coughs going on and how he explained his changes of mind about the answers.

This wasn’t something committed by a brilliant criminal mastermind or a crack team of specialists Mission Impossible style, it was good old fashioned bumbling British eccentricity.

To be frank, the programme needed a winner. It was beginning to flag because winning was proving too difficult. And by all accounts the producers made millions anyway.

An excellent drama, very well acted. In fact Matthew MacFadyen’s best ever performance and Michael Sheen as good as ever.

Hope they get away with it.  :)

After listening to the defence barrister, I'd have found them Not Guilty, or if available, the Scottish 'Not proven' option.

Common sense told you they cheated ..but shocked they got found guilty in a court of law ..  as they never found the way they got the correct answers . cough or no cough you still have to have someone who will get the answers right , And the other guy in the dock with them  only won 1k when he got his chance next .

Still a lot of unanswered questions that I guess only them 3 know about . should have just took 125 k and not got greedy I guess .

Very good tv. And surprisingly a syndicate of cheats won a total of 10% of the prize money, the Ingrams not included in this!

Really enjoyable bit of telly I thought.

I enjoyed it too. Did it end with them being offered the newspaper money? My recording ended at that point.

If, as shown, he explained the Craig David answer change was due to the gasp from the audience when he originally opted for A1, then I'm surprised they were found guilty.

And their cat was shot at, and survived, not their dog, in real life.

We await their appeal then.

Just imagine the abuse they would have got if social media had been around then!

Been made bankrupt 4 times and convicted of insurance fraud since then.

That’s an interesting point.

Skillfully reading the audience effectively gives you extra help on every question!

Why not say out loud that you intend to go for each of the four options and see how the audience responds. That’s what he did to an extent.

Having said that, I guess any deliberately pre-arranged assistance on even one single question amounts to cheating. Maybe you would have to invite that assistance by starting your response “I really don’t know the answer to this ..”.

Any assistance he got was rather random so fair play to him navigating 15 (?) questions, especially with 169 coughs going on and only 19 (?) allegedly being helpful!

Chris Tarrant on radio complaining about drama. Saying "it made them look innocent. It was the police that prosecuted them not us".

If you revisit the documentary the quiz has missed out a lot of things . the key one is Whittock was heard  getting the answers off  the others players  before coughing . Looking back the quiz is quite bias towards them to be honest .

Yes, but how did the court allow “Tape G” after it had been doctored numerous times by the production company!

This was a drama production, not a factual documentary
