New rumours suggest only five GP rounds, with 3 in Poland.

WHERE would the other two be? Not what I'm hearing. Makes logistical sense to stay in Poland. Not just the riders but officials, TV etc. and the only country where there might be an audience, albeit limited.

Togliatti looks rather doubtful. I don't think there will be a Russian SGP this year.

With five Grand Prix's this year there could be three in Poland, one in Prague, and one in ??? (Daugavpils maybe?)

Prague looks as a possibility. They already had speedway meetings in Czech with 400-500 crowds.

Togliatti indeed very unlikely... would have been nice though. Great place.

Maybe Vojens?

500 people in Prague wouldn't pay any bills, much less the TV costs,  and would require riders to leave Poland which, even without quarantine restrictions, would not go down well with a possible league match the previous Friday or following Sunday.

Much of the above also applies to Vojens. Despite probable FIM protestations, a mini-series of eight rounds in Poland still seems the most likely and practical solution. Hopefully, followed by the SON in Manchester.

No problem with 8 rounds in Poland but do not call it a world championship because it would not be.

A precedent has been set with the European Championship... a series with only Polish riders would certainly not constitute a World Championship.

You can’t decide a World Championship with all the meetings in the same country, just wouldn’t be right or properly representative. If there is a desire to have a World Champion and Poland is the only country which can host anything then have a one off event, a World Final if you like.

Agree with Phillip.   It does not matter where the tracks are sighted.  All 15 riders know the Polish tracks well.

No temporary tracks is a good thing.

But not as well as the Poles. It wouldn’t be acceptable to me if the UK were the only country running speedway and they crowded a five round GP series into the autumn with rounds at Belle Vue, Poole, Lynn, P’boro and Sheffield. The whole essence of the series is rounds in different countries.

By all means have a one off meeting in Poland if there is a desperation to have a WC but not a mini series.

Cheers for the sarcasm.

Why there? How about a track where none of the GP riders race? I’d rather they didn’t have a World Championship at all at this stage personally.

This year is unlike any other in our life.   Accept the best that can be done within restrictions for travel and crowds.    It may not be perfect but it's strange times.     5, 6 or 8 GP's is plenty to find a Champion.

If they were in different countries yes....but not all in one country. I think that compromises the integrity of the competition.

How can a GP in Poland be different to the UK or Sweden for integrity.      And you are also missing the vital bit about conrolling the movement of a virus.
