Najjer 2,889 Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) I only went to Reading in their last season when they dropped back into the then Premier League. I seem to recall going there 4 times that year with Somerset for a challenge which we got thumped in, won in the League Cup, won in the league (which I think was the last ever match at Smallmead?) and in the KO Cup on a very hot and sunny afternoon. Jason Doyle romped to a 21 point maximum in what I still regard as the best performance that I've ever seen, going from last to first in the space of a lap off 15 metres in heat 14 for an 8-1 with Matthias Kroger. You would never see any of today’s high fliers take to the track in those conditions. In those days riders just got on with it and in doing so showed some respect to the paying punter. These days they are over rated and over paid thanks to Poland and most have no respect for anyone but themselves. Add to this the fact that the cost of participating as a rider forces most would be riders out of the sport and with fewer riders/countries competing then all you highly paid individuals will suddenly find no one can afford to play with the few elitists who think they are Gods gift to speedway. Make it cheaper to enter and participate as a rider with standardised equipment and stop the nonsense of needing three or four bikes.
