Latvia resume action next week, and Russia the week after. At that point GB will be the only nation not to have staged a single meeting since covid stopped play.

Even if GB were allowed to resume, unless public were let in it would  not be viable for most  Clubs.IMO.25%crowd levels wouldn’t sustain most Clubs either.

Bit of an understatement that I'd say when most Clubs can't survive on 100% gates and receipts and rely on sponsorship and advertising and even then most make a loss and rely on Promoter / Owners to make out of cover losses. Glasgow perfect example rely totally on great support of Faceena family

There were 3 junior meetings last weekend and League one (their third tier) is up and running. These are meetings where crowds of under 100 ard the norm.

Along with a great many other businesses in Leicester that were ready to resume, it is grossly unfair that a problem rooted in one area of the city should have such an overall impact. There needs to be some balls to make decisions and put in place measures that would cause offense and produce a strong vocal reaction, but I can't see any local or national politicians growing a pair anytime soon.

As well as the Evington area to the east, there are two factories near the stadium where several emplyees have tested positive for COVID-19

But with something like speedway, it’s spectators will likely not only come from all areas of Leicester but from areas 20-30 miles or more beyond. I still don’t think there will be any speedway in the uk where spectators will be allowed, so no paying punters equals no speedway.  Of course speedway could be streamed but do British speedway promotors have the vision to do that?

Wasn't referring to speedway racing especially, more the curtailment of the successful practice arrangements which had been organised by the club and which were bringing in much-needed income as well as providing riders with the opportunity. The main impact however has been on businesses in and around Leicester which had got themselves geared up to start up again, in areas away from the Covid surge area.

That is true, but employees of Walkers Crisps and other factories are hardly likely to be trying to gatecrash speedway practice sessions, or anything else in the area including the shopping centre. They disappear off home at end of shift and recently it's been usual for several to pack into one car. Also, if there were consistency, wouldn't Walkers Crisps need to be closed down temporarily. Unfortunately nobody will take that decision as it would mean that millions would starve.

But it's not 25% of crowds but 25% of stadium capacity.

If - and who knows what the British government will decide - England and Wales had the same restrictions then the likes of  Berwick, Poole, Leicester, Kent and Somerset would all be able to allow around 1,300 spectators (capacities of late 4,000 plus).

Peterborough's main stand seats over 2,000 on its own so I suspect they would be around the same capacity, Belle Vue and Sheffield would be allowed around 1,000 but that would surely depend on what parts of the stadium other than the home straight they could open at Owlerton.

Glasgow's low capacity and high overheads would have left them trying to balance the books on crowds of under 1,000 - others already do that with differing degrees of success.

It's not a given that it could or would work - or even get the go-ahead - but it's not impossible either.

I stand corrected, thanks.Others tracks with crowds under 1000 are not really balancing the books though most are losing money and rely on fans pouring money into the Clubs in recent years. The Championship Clubs would bite you hand of for crowds of 1000+ in most cases. Its certainly not impossible for Clubs to run meetings if they get the go ahead, but will they be meaningful meetings with their own riders giving the situation and viability for some of them who are not in the Country.

The credibility of the sport is at stake here ,although Promotions just seem to think the fans will turn out for anything these days.
We shall see.!!

What else do Walkers make at the Leicester factory?

Life-sized replicas of Gary Lineker.

It explains why he seems to be ubiquitous.

While I agree with the Premiership and its reliance on fly-in/fly-out "names" I'm not sure that the Championship clubs would be offering much different to what was planned in March - except the actual number of fixtures of course. How the Prem makes itself look different from the Champs could be a tricky one
