No, it was actually  Hawk 127 that started the ball rolling by say bangers and stock cars could run because they are classed as amateur sport. He then said you couldn’t make it up but he obviously did because it appears not to have been true. Then Bandit 59 seemed to have r believed it’s done you jumped on the band wagon by saying it was the Government

The guidelines are indeed a little complicated to the layman and we may or may not agree with them but make something up and then politicise it on a sports thread is both misleading and out of order.

Merely wondering what the difference is between stock car racing going ahead Speedway not maybe you could enlighten me?

Looks as though some county cricket sides are confident the October date for supporters returning could be brought forward if test events are successful.

One runs mainly individual events whereas speedway want to run a league competition which needs all tracks to align?

Isn't the issue simply the viability of running the sport rather than any 'status' of it in the Govt eyes?

All sports could have ran when football started but many simply couldn't do it with empty stadiums due to the huge financial cost of doing so..

Rugby League, Union, Cricket etc all decided not to start their leagues due to cost, hence postponed their start dates to see if crowds could be allowed in with a later start date..

Speedway also has a massive barrier to it of using someone else's property in many cases, which therefore can mean a positive test at 'the Speedway' by a steward for example, possibly impacting the core business of the landlord, (who rely mainly on greyhound racing).

Therefore this would need a huge amount of faith being shown by any of the owners..

Add in the operating and business plan, which has always been unfit for purpose, of 'sharing employees' domestically and internationally, and logistically you can see why it's been pretty much a non starter to cram in meetings with riders who may need to be in four places at once..

The positive is that there may now be a 'reset' of the way they run the sport, to ensure any further impacts are lessened.

A wake up call that starts with a clear focus on UK riders, meaning no dependency on rules implemented by overseas Govts, and Speedway bodies which may hinder your own business..

There may also be a reset around rider costs, as 30k of unusable kit sat in a workshop for a year, is a hell of a lot worse than having 5k of unusable kit gathering dust..

And lastly, as many promotions continually tell us that they lose "significant sums", at least this year they wont, so maybe they could invest something more into re launching and marketing a 'brand new' reset sport next year?

Good post Mikebv, what has happen is very tough on clubs but the non running of the league’s in 2020 was inevitable months ago.

It just shows the level of importance or should I say lack of it, that the cancellation of speedway in the UK hasn’t been mentioned on any main stream sports media. Speedway doesn’t get a line!

Sadly many businesses will and are going bust and I fear this will also wipe out some clubs and put promoters in serious financial distress. Clearly there’s much going to happen and change between now and next March. Difficult times for many.

You were asked, how has socialism saved 'millions of lives' in the last five months. I genuinely don't know.

Trolling is not assessed by the number of posts made. It is defined by the content of the post.

The forum rules are that you attack the post not the contributor . Your previous post was nothing to do with the subject under discussion, but was a personal attack on myself. Not that I could care less about your opinion, but was merely highlighting your childish comment and your inability to contribute anything of value to the discussion.

I wasn’t criticising mate , simply highlighting the apparently incorrect and misleading comment before yours.
We don’t really know why the stocks are going ahead and not speedway.  mikebv set out a likely reason a few posts, back.

No one doubts stock cars are going ahead. The question is where does it say it’s because it’s classed as an amateur sport ? That doesn’t seem to be what the Govt guidelines are saying.

Seems that the confusion has arisen as to who said what with regards to bangers versus speedway at Ipswich. Chris Louis has given his view and the head of Spedeworth stated in a radio interview on BBC Radio Suffolk that oval racing such as that taking place at Ipswich involves drivers who pay to participate and do not get paid by the promoter. CL questions this but as of yesterday that is the way it is. Foxhall will see racing with fans through the gate for the oval four wheeled motor sport. Speedway might run in October but my reading of the article in the EADT is that it is a governing body decision insofar as it relates to league racing meant no league meetings at Foxhall. The fickle supporters would probably not turn out for an individual event so the promoters are between an rock and a hard place. Everything is either in the press or can be heard and no it is not made up.

Do we have any idea of a typical crowd that goes to the stocks?

Is it one man and his dog?

Is it (normally) equally or more popular than speedway?
