FROM the Daily Telegraph (maybe substitute speedway for county cricket) ...

County cricket hopes that its elderly fanbase means it will be the first sport to allow spectators to return to grounds when the Championship season begins on April 8. Plans under discussion include admitting only spectators who have had a Covid-19 vaccine at least three weeks previously — the point at which the doses are highly effective — to further reduce the likelihood of transmission in grounds. Positive news about the rollout of the vaccine is leading to growing optimism among county chiefs, with everyone over the age of 50 due to have received one dose by the end of March.

Vaccine discrimination being put forward then :nono:

Effectively banning the under 50s from attending

If they do that then I wont attend for the rest of the season on principle even once able to

Not seen any mention of the Premiership Junior League that was going to be launched? All the ghost teams were forced out and the development leagues put in jeopardy ready for the BSPL to swoop in and save the day but all gone very quiet since......

17th May now earliest date for crowds at sporting events

There'll be test events prior to that.  They're even talking about the F A Cup final being a test event on the 15th.

All based on the data position every 5 weeks!! So things  dates could change either way at any of the 5-week intervals from now (Feb 22nd)

I thought the official line was the timescale could extend but in no circumstances would they shorten (unfortunately)

Their Pi££ up is now officially organised, how smug they must all be. The successful removal of the only Promotion that actually promotes must give them all such a feeling of satisfaction. RIP Isle of Wight.

Excellent intelligent Promotion removed check, ghost teams closed down check. NL and MDL on its knees check. Lower leagues almost ruined so fans forced to view higher league speedway....mission accomplished

BSPZzzz motto these days - "our way or the highway". No room for renegade promotions that do things differently, that do a bit of forward thinking, that innovate, that aim to do well, or that actually "promote".  You march in step or you ship out...and sadly IoW have shipped out.

Probably save a good few quid in expenses too not having to get to the IOW...

Especially for those 'northern tracks' that have coincidentally decided to run an NDL team this year...;)

Being an IOW regular, it's a real kick in the teeth for us fans in the South East. Lakeside and Rye gone, and now the Island. I don't know how Mildenhall are going to run with so few home meetings.

Dont feel sad for IOW i suspect they could emerge from this stronger and more free of the BSPL shackles.

The new Provincial League, memories of watching at Hackney in 1963(?). Trouble is there are so few stadiums these days that could hold speedway but are not doing at the present.

Personally id look at hosting challenge matches against ex/ghost teams, the individuals/pairs events they normally hold plus practice days. But the BSPL could get petty and stop license holders from riding (done multiple times before). Alternatively the short track fraternity might be getting very excited right now.
