Hate to be pedantic, but that is considered the bottom of Bishopsford Road; it changes to London Road the other side of Wandle Road. My mate Jeff lives opposite. Imperial Fields (or whatever it was before) used to be a training ground for Chelsea.

Went there once to get David Hay's autograph, when he moved from Celtic. Peter Osgood used to have a boutique along from the training ground towards the Cricketers

Probably because they thought you had to have a fever or something just because you showed up to watch them! :D

Me and 85 others then!

Carnforth Rangers v Furness Rovers last Saturday (10/10, West Lancashire League, Division Two - level 13!). Most stringent anti-COVID measures I've encountered since football resumed. Included a temperature check at the gate.

At Horsham a couple of weeks ago, i had a barcoded ticket, temperature test, NHS scan and had to sanitize my hands, before i got to the turnstiles. Pretty impressive stuff.

Hey; I'm supposed to be from the land of the pedants, not you :nono:.  Based on their website, I'll give you the address, showing as Bishopstoke, although, as per Microsoft map here, and in real life, the ground entrance is actually beyond Wandle Road :D. Of course The National Trust are no help either putting Watermeads address as Bishopstoke; #membership refund request in the post.  And as for Jeff !!!!

Including my friend Dr John, a retired neurosurgeon from Edinburgh. .

A very interesting job but hardly brain surgery.

You want to talk about Pedants? It's BishopsFORD, not BishopSTOKE!

Plus, that is Morden, and not Mitcham!

Anyway, I also checked Google Maps which is different to that one you have!

During the game, I got talking to the chap next to me. Turned out to be a John, from Edinburgh. One and the same, I suspect!

Must stop feeding you the ammo to shoot me down with. :D. Damn predictive text, with a visit to Bishopstoke nr Eastleigh, 10 days ago not helping.  I'll accept I've been outpedanted, but not reluctantly. :D

Was worried in case you thought my first comment was some sort of bad joke, but a total coincidence you mentioning it on here and him Emailing me on Friday to say that was where he was going. Has to be one of the same; late 60s with spectacles and a squint. Has a distinctive laugh too. The comment about him being a neurosurgeon is true too, as well as allowing the punchline. :D .

Off to St. James, Leeds in the pouring rain. Not exactly a fun day out.

I exchanged email addresses with John at the game. Earlier today, I passed on the apparent coincidence. This is what he said:

"I was a member of the medical profession. However, I was merely a lowly general practitioner, in practice in a commuter town outside Edinburgh, rather than a specialist. Now, if there is another hopper [i.e. groundhopper] called John, in Edinburgh, also keen on going to matches at obscure venues, I would love to know who it is."

Curioser and curioser?
