Why stopped Fredrik Lindgren‘s bike in the final heat?

Recommended Posts

Any ideas what was the technical reason? What was wrong with his bike just after the start? Must be a minor problem as he could use the same bike for the run-off.

Something to do with his fuel (methanol)? Fueltap ?

KT on commentary suggested that his back wheel had not been tightened properly and that caused the chain to come off ..

That was said of someone else in an earlier race, can’t remember which. If that was Freddie’s fault too that would be strange, two in one meeting.

Lindgren would have sealed the silver medal with a top-three finish on the night, but he suffered a mechanical failure at the start line in the final, forcing him into a run-off with Woffinden, which the Brit won.

The Orebro-born ace revealed a curburettor issue halted him at the cruellest of moments. But he takes heart from matching the bronze medal he achieved in 2018 and was pleased to mount a strong title challenge throughout 2020.

Has anyone else found it strange how we get fewer engine failures in the sport?

Kind of ruins the entertainment.

Nothing more exciting than seeing a rider leading until the last lap and their engine blows up.

While we're talking technical, nothing to do with Freddie, but when the riders fiddle with something just under the saddle what are they doing?

And on a completely unrelated topic... has anybody noticed that more often than not in the Swedish televised meetings heat 1 is a false start must be a good 75% of the time (seems like it anyway)!

Turning on or off the primary chain oiler.

On a slightly different note, I was surprised Freddie performed so well at weekend knowing his wife had gone into labour on Friday in a foreign country on her own.
