Ekstraliga Żużlowa commissioned in the research and development center of the tire industry to test the hardness of tires from Anlas and Mitas after the 9th round matches of PGE Ekstraliga: eWINNER Apator Toruń - BETARD Sparta Wrocław and FOGO Unia Leszno - ELTROX Włókniarz Częstochowa (played on June 11).

Apart from used tires, new tires of both manufacturers were also submitted for testing. The results of laboratory tests show that both tire brands with FIM approval, valid in 2021, are comparable, i.e. the average values of rubber hardness in the so-called Shore Scales are very similar for both tire brands.

The expert test was carried out using a method which consisted in the fact that the hardness of the tires was measured after mounting them on the rim, at a pressure of 1 bar, at a temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius on the central tread blocks, in four places, turning the wheel by 90 degrees and after two measurements on the sides of the tire.

In total, 8 hardness checks were performed for each tire.

Due to the fact that both Anlas and Mitas tires, according to the test and its results, in terms of their hardness slightly differ from the standards adopted in FIM approvals for the 2021 season (lower tire hardness value on the Shore scale, Ekstraliga Żużlowa will contact the Polish Automobile Association to refer the matter to the FIM for clarification).

Until any decision by the entity granting the approval, i.e. FIM, the tires of both manufacturers can be used in PGE Ekstraliga competitions.

At the same time, we would like to inform you that PGE Ekstraliga will regularly perform laboratory tests of new tires from both manufacturers, controlling their hardness level depending on the production date.
