Herne Bay, is that in cloud cuckoo land !!!

Herne Bay was renamed Horse Bay by Kent Council road sign glitch last week. So it could be in cloud cuckoo land... :D

I am a firm believer in "what goes around comes around. "

It is Poland's time to rule the roost in the Speedway World at the moment.

Let us hope when the "bubble bursts" , when the Polish supporters find other things to do with their leisure time, and their  TV companies find another sport to put on their channels  that the GB promoters are just  as robust in imposing punitive conditions on the contracts of riders who decide that they suddenly want to return to ride in the UK.

As a now independent Sovereign nation we ought to be developing our own riding talent ...... and imposing contract conditions to restrict their ability to suddenly sign up for  EU nations and quit the tracks where they learnt how to race. No longer are we saddled with EU employment rules.

Indeed British speedway behaved in much the same way in the 70s/80s and look what's happened now - as you say karma.

I actually think Poland have learned from what the UK failed to do when it was the No1 Speedway league on the planet, and built their plan around not having the same outcome the UK ended up with...

Unlike the UK, they haven't allowed a free for all whereby foreign riders come in and take spaces over Polish lads, and by ensuring that young riders in particular get guaranteed slots they have invested in what they hope is future success....

The reason being is that they know how much of Polish Speedways domestic growth has been built on a successful national team which has ignited the interest of the public and, most importantly, meant mainstream media and major sponsors getting involved in the leagues over there..

Their determination to keep Poland as No1 is clear and, quite rightly, will do whatever is needed to keep themselves there..

The UK had its chance, following a system that worked, then opened the floodgates to everyone, and basically spent years training up overseas riders to knock the 'England' team off their perch and they swiftly become also rans on the world stage..

And as that happened, quite naturally,  the media coverage and major sponsors dwindled away accordingly...

Can't see those in charge in Poland allowing the same thing to happen to them..

Does anyone know what the average attendance is at Polands top league, year on year for the last 10 years or so, would be interesting to see if the figures are up,down or relatively static

Suggest you pose that question in the international section.

They should run it with Guests every week..

Bartek and the rest of the lads could earn so much more...

Fans, TV companies and Sponsors would still pay in their respective millions...  :D

Surely all the top riders have already fled the UK and are riding in Poland in 2021?  Realistically, did anyone honestly expect to ever see Woffinden Lambert etc etc ride in UK speedway again ?

As soon as Bewdly gets an offer he will be offski.  Brennon won't be far behind.

And  Chris von Strasse at Wolves still wants more team in the  PLin 2022. he he he funny chap.   Where's your riders coming from Chris ?  - and please don't say the NDL..... last time I looked there were just 6 teams left standing there.

I would be more worried about Birmingham, if they close, hopefully they won't, which of the premier clubs will jump first to take their spot

So Poland's best footballer earns Zmarzlik's annual wage in 2 weeks.

So much for speedway being Poland's 'national sport'.

It’s not, that’s always been a myth.
