Congratulations to Team GB - World Champions at winning play-off's.  Ironic in a way, coming from a country whose footballists can't win a penalty shoot-out to save their lives.

Having watched it a few times now Janowski really did mess up.He had no need to pile up to the outside like he did,Bewley had already messed up the 2nd bend. Not complaining very happy he did:D.

My recording tonight is staying put for a long while yet:D:drink:

I'd say Zmarzlik was to blame, he came right across from inside to outside right in front of Janowski and wasn't as fast.

It’s not daft. The 42 heats are to get you to the knockout. If you top score, you get a bye to the final, but it’s not handed to you on a plate.

Keeps people interested for longer, means you don’t end up with dead rubbers at the end of the event. A well established principle in many sports, including other speedway competitions…

Spot on...

And Lebedevs, Bellego, and Hellstrom Bangs (as clear examples), showed the level of commitment that these riders have even with "nothing to ride for"...

No 'dead rubbers' at the very top level, so a one off final will enhance all that has gone before..

Something i missed watching the BT coverage this weekend was interviews with top  riders seeing the track for the 1st time and hearing what they think of the track ??

Well done GB team. They gave it all and did it. I hoe this win is promoted the right way and gets on the sports pages of national newspapers, and gets at least local tv coverage.

Rider of the weekend ….Hellstrom-Bangs, he deserves a special medal for making a good name for himself.
